    Classic Rock Tune #2

Thanks Dude! Drums in the middle of the room. Two OHs, top and bottom snare, a 57 on each tom. OHs are a KM184 and an AT4040. Hey, it's what I got lol. Snare bottom is a 58. Then I put an SM57 on a Marshall DSL stack and an EV RE20 on the Hartke bass cab (ampeg head). The guitar amp was on...

    A Memory of Light

I am not hearing any harmonic minor at all. Sounds more phrygian to me.

    Classic Rock Tune #2

Thanks! In mix 2 I tried to do everything you were hearing. I pulled down all the instruments 2 DBs, and the vocals 3 DBs. I also lowered the backup vocals even more and pitch corrected them. The pitch corrected backups actually punch through better while also being at a lower level. I...

    Classic Rock Tune #2

Thanks! Mix 2 has a little more ass. I added more bass and bass drum. ---------- Update ---------- Good ear. Thanks! Drummer hit snare mic right there. I edited it out with no repercussions I think.

    A Memory of Light

One more thing that may be helpful - have you read about gain staging and optimal input levels? It may be that you were running your input preamps hotter than was necessary.

    A Memory of Light

The piano sounds very nice. The stereo image is pretty good IMO. Neat performance. Cool composition. There is a lot of static noise. Is this a loud room? Outside noise? Air conditioning or heater on? If not, then your signal chain could be improved. At 2:58 I can hear clicking. Not sure if...

    Classic Rock Tune #2

Hey there. This is a classic rock band I recorded in my basement. We recorded the drums, bass and rhythm guitars live and then overdubbed vocals and lead guitar. I don't play on this one, which is kind of neat - I got to just run around setting levels. I don't have anything in particular to...

    Mountain Of Hope

Cool tune. Has a nice relaxed feel. A lot of people could like this. The first thing I noticed was there is no space before the music starts. Should be 1-3 seconds there. The phaser thing on the voice is an interesting choice. Maybe tone it back some? I feel like it's out of place in this...

RYA - A Dreamer (Feedback for feedback)

Some of the percussion sounds come off a little too aggressively gated IMO. I realize that is acceptable in this genre. Whereas this tune could be very smooth, I think it adds a choppy element that doesn't quite flow optimally.

    "Work It Out"

Sounds good as usual. One thing: the bass drum doesn't seem to have a lot of presence in the mix and I think in a style like this, you want to push that envelope a bit. -The upper attack - 2-6kHz and of course some nice bass drum thump to go with it.

    4 Guys, a microphone, and a guitar

Good performance man. What are your input levels looking like on your DAW? It sounds a bit fried to me. (I am also sick right now so maybe it's me).

    "Of Course Sick" master

I think the guitars and bass are a little loud and the drums are too far in the back of the mix. The bass especially is boomy. It is almost to the point of distracting - that is to say you've got some nice weaving melodies on the guitars but the bass is covering it to a degree. The end is...

Hearts Collide - pop alternative rock - mix feedback?

Sounds friggin awesome to me man. Great work. I love the way the vocals sit deep in the mix. Love the ending chord.

    EQ Pedals

I've been drooling over an Empress Para EQ. It is expensive but it has Q settings for each dial and has 3 band parametric settings. Plus it has a boost which would be useful for me. ParaEq – Empress Effects Inc.

    Yes, +1 to all that.

    Mesa Boogie Mark V 25

Yeah, the Mesa reverb can't do what the fender reverb does. Put it on 10 and it's still relatively mild. It is a totally different thing. I like the Boogie EQ. It has come in handy when I play in bad rooms. You can also use it to punch through a dense mix.

    Mesa Boogie Mark V 25

That's cool that you have an EQ on/off latch for both channels. On my DC-5 it's EQ on or EQ off and doesn't change with a channel switch. The foot switch has channel and EQ though, and you can quite easily step on both at the same time. I was doing that for a while there but every once in a...

    Old Dog. New Tricks

Sounds good man. Cool tune. I listened twice. Generally agree with the comments provided - especially Chili's about the bass dum and bass. I feel like the drums could be a little brighter and wider.

    An in-progress song... "Perfect Woman"

It's a ice performance. Has lots of feel. I could imagine a violin playing backing tidbits, fillers, answer-backs. etc. It wouldn't have to be a violin but there is a real opportunity here. Whatever you add - it doesn't have to do too much.

Sam Schatz - Original nerd punk inspired by Tron

I think this mix is never going to be killer until you fix the arrangement. There is so much going on that it is cluttered. IMO there could be some effective addition by subtraction. That's not to say you eliminate ideas, just do them more strategically. Something sounds flat. to sure all the...
