    Sweetbeats' thoughts on CLASP...

Why would a modern top of the line digital recording system need Life Support like CLASP? :drunk: :D :drunk:

    Sweetbeats' thoughts on CLASP...

I personally do not need imagining this. Not for as long as 50 years, but in my "music recording/production" life: my first "multitrack recorder" was AKAI DR4d and my "master recorder" was TASCAM DA-30. And then one day (BY ACCIDENT) I "discovered" a tape deck. :drunk: I was looking for an...

    Sweetbeats' thoughts on CLASP...

If there was no such thing as negative implications of digital recording of music and digital production process of musical recordings, then there would be no such thing as benefits of analog recording of music and analog production process of musical recordings. As a matter of fact, if there...

    Teac RA41

Yeah, Ethan, I'd think twice before grabbing the knife :D. If they are in great shape - these are classic units. Keep them :) ...maybe you can use them as stand alone VU-meters for a nice look if for nothing else :D

    Teac RA41

heh heh I feel your pain :p.... but!!!!!!!! don't feel too bad. You sure could restore it and then maybe end up dusting it off , or just looking at it or keeping it under a glass cover :) Instead! - it serves a good cause now, and does it well like no other would. :drunk:

Some pics of my new set up

Steve , the "purple" one is voltage regulator. V12 is rectifier tube. Honestly, I would keep the power supply as it is. ************** I have a circuit for an analog VU-Meter movement that I kind of like and it works really well. I used this circuit for few of my units with some slight...

Some pics of my new set up

wow nice! Steve, did you move in a new place or something, as I recall you were looking for a place ???? , also it was kinda' long time ago... You gotta fire-up that VU-meter on Concertone. I'd say the best way would be to build a solid-state buffer/amp for it with its own powersupply, it's an...

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Steve! You wanted eight track - get this one , and you can carry it with you to your gigs, not an iPod, but close, and it operates like an all-in-one Brother printer, literally! ...heh heh :p ... :D Seriously, it's a nice recorder. Meanwhile I'll keep dreaming of TEAC 80-8 :drunk:

FOSTEX R8 workshop page - fixing cracked pulley, belt etc

Daniel! Thank you, Sir! :) OK, guys, I was spinning the machine today, Also had to tighten up the brakes a bit. So the bonds on the pulleys hold well so far. If it'll fail some day I'll sure let you know and then will have to try something different... arghhhhhh, I hope not. I was also tracing...

No. It's legal disclaimer. and it's a very useful one in a technical discussion b-board. :drunk:

FOSTEX R8 workshop page - fixing cracked pulley, belt etc

I have no clue about options :o I'd guess if you find or can custom order a flat rubber belt of the same size you'll be OK. I fixed couple reel-to-reel machines, few cassette decks and even couple cd-players simply by going through my junk box and finding a belt that fits. But that's how I do...

Just some random thoughts on tape echo machines...

the "open market" prices for those machines are around 400-500 bucks with a swing. For an authentic and highly desirable device that is no longer "commercially available" it's just an OK price. Nothing "outrageous" about it. The condition of a unit is a seperate issue and it's a no-brainer...

    Tascam Portastudio One question

yeah, Daniel, I'm looking at the record function "section" and it looks like you can only record two tracks at a time, selectable to L record buss 1 or 3 or (safe/non) and to R record buss 2 or 4 or (safe/non).
