First time Homerecording.com submitter!

Listened to "to believe". I liked the feel of the song - very well done. The guitars might be just a bit strong but what the hell do I know?? Hmmm...dig the leather pants.

    Trio, first mixing attempt

Spiffy - an interesting tune for sure. The drums arent bad - they are pretty soft and kinda mellow. The whole song would chnage if you threw in some huge 80's butt rock drums. The song reminded me of Teen wolf meets Buffy the vampire slayer. The vocals are too fuzzy to make...

    Need an opinion

Listened to "my own side". I like the song. The vocals sound especially good. Sound good for "very amateur" recordings. The distortion is a little messy when it comes in. I think if you used a gate you could tighten it up a little bit and get rid of some of the fret noise. -nilbog

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2665&alid=459 I recorded this over a year ago. It's a live concert (I'm playing drums) that we kind of threw together. I recorded our outdoor stage from about 20 feet away with a $20 Best buy powered lapel mic and a minidisc recorder. Not...

    Holy Shred.

Cool licks, man. I dig the guitar sound - could be alittle "bigger" if you know what I mean. How many guitar layers did you record for the rythm guitar? the bass is ookkkaay...It seems kidn of out of place for the style.

    Headphone advice please

I've found that really old headphones work incredible. Like something from the 80's where each earpiece is as big as an apple and made of thick plastic. If it looks like something a hellicopter pilot might wear - you're good to go. Check your local thrift store. But yeah - dont mix with...

    Bass cables

My friend just recorded at the studio last week. He plays bass and uses special cables made for the bass. Is this BS or what? How can a bass cable be any different from any other cable?

    a trip to the studio...

they are basically a punk/emo/hardcore band. None of thier songs have any tempo changes or anything - and they had trouble keeping time at a few parts where there are breaks in the music... It was not their preference to record in that order - thats what the tech said to do. And they laid...

    Recording strings for pop/rock music

Yeah - the most important thing is your head an how you want the instrument to sound. For the Violin/Viola: If you're too close in, the sound will come out flat - so back off. Try a condensor mic 2 or 3 feet above the violin. Cello: try a large diaphragm mic. Again, put it a few feet away...

    a trip to the studio...

I went to 8 Houses Down studio in Denver colorado (operated by the guys from the gammits for any locals) to observe my friends band get recorded. It's not a real full blow pro studio - they payed $35 and hour and it's basically a really nice home studio (24 track hard drive). Anyway, I...

Pre record everything (except vocals)- and then just put enough stuff on stage, and push enough buttons so people THINK your doing something.
