I ordered a 2496 sound card, I'm just trying to figure something out until I get it. I don't have a CRT so I don't think that's the problem.

Well it's just the onboard sound on my compaq. I record through a UB802 mixer then run out that into the input on the card. It's an rca output from the mixer I have an adapter on it to convert it to a 1/8 input. Like I said before it still records that hum even if everything is unplugged.

What about the samples they offer? Did you give them a listen the before and after. What do you think of them? Also I think they offer a free sample of their work, you send in a song and they master if for free to get an idea of what you will get.

The thing is that I don't have loads of money to spend on mastering. Like I said I have been watching that site for a while now probably a year and a half and it's still there. Also they say they have been mastering for over 10 years. Don't know just seems like a good one.

Ahh I'm a fool I just realized by LDC that was an abreviation of Large Diaphram Condenser. My bad. Oh yeah I'm looking to get one but my budget is pretty low.

I don't use a preamp. I just run the mic through my Behringer UB802 mixer to my computer. From the mixer to the computer is RCAs and to the mixer from the mic is just your average XLR cable.
