    Alternative to M-Audio?

what type of raid do you have? is it hardware or software raid? it doesn't make any sense that a hardware raid would screw up a workstation because video workstations practically depend on raid... software raid on the otherhand I could definatly see giving issues... possibly onboard raid...

how to proffesional engineers get it so loud?

though I will admit to being one of the people trying to get to 0dB this makes perfect sense... because a 24bit signal has a 144dB dynamic range... and pushing preamps always adds noise and distortion... so by recording softer you get a cleaner signal... even a 16bit signal has 96dB to work with...

    Broke and prioritizing purchases...help please?

personally I'd go with a controller because if you're "po" you're not going to afford monitors that are decient... you'd end up with a self powered, 8" speaker with a reflex tube.... I would rather have a controller to conviently produce tracks and on mixdown test in various sterio systems and...

The New Apple Mac Pro Announced Today!

yeah, it's nice... but theres better out there... Sun workstations can allocate twice as much RAM... the IBM's can probably do the same. Apples entery into the PC archetectue allows them to use standard server features that they've been lacking like NUMA awareness (which I can't tell if they...

Is it possible to get an lcd monitor repaired?

LCD's are "economically repairable" because I used to be a tech :) though I did LCDTV and HDTV. The problem is that LDC's are put together like crap so they require a bit of tinkering to figure out whats actually wrong with them. Image board could be bad... or just a voltage problem... if it...

Sonar 5, convert mono to stereo

converting a mono track to a sterio track is called panning. everybody records everything in mono... generally... a mic is mono... if you record with two mics then you record them mono and pan them.

    MobilePre and Jitter During Playback

you're having dropouts... not jitter... are you recording to the same physical disk as the OS? (partitioning won't help performance)
  18. Z

Have you noticed nobody talks about Jitter

unless you have insane perfect pitch you would need atleast 2 track to notice... but then you would still need insane perfect pitch... it is basically like recording two 1k tones... and on playback one is 1.0005k and the other is .9995k ...as that is basically what jitter does... it's the...
