    The New Tone Thread

Good luck with that. I've had a bit of time off after posting loads in the MP3 clinic and I come in to find this!

New amp for Greg - Bladow! (lots of pics)

Last weekend I was setting up onstage and stepped backwards with the full weight of my heel onto my JVM foot controller. A few songs into the set, two of the buttons stopped working properly - they wouldn't step through the gain modes. I struggled on and managed to finish the gig, but the pedal...

    Album song order

Unless you are doing some god-awful concept album that tells a story, start with your best song. Then your second-best song. And so-on, until you get to the end. But no-one really listens to complete albums in the sequence they were intended, anymore.

    Uke Song #1

Very nice, JDude. :D Everyone should play and record stuff that's outside their normal thing. :)

"Baby Bitch" by Ween - backing track with guide vocal.

Thanks, Rob - I'll look into that VST. The cello I use (in its proper range) I think sounds ok, but it shows its creakiness in the higher registers. My mate wants to do "Mr Jones" by the Psychedelic Furs, next, but I'm losing my drummer this weekend. :wail: :D

"Baby Bitch" by Ween - backing track with guide vocal.

Hi, Robus. No it's not my friend Andy yet, that's my guide vocal so that Frank could place himself in the song. It's rare for me to track a song with drums last, but it seems to have worked this time. :D Thanks very much for your comments, I tried to go for a mix that was less dense than a lot...

Great. The drums are a wee bit light in the bottom end for my taste, but they suit the song. The balances are pretty much perfect, the wet/dry balance of the drums is really nice and the whole thing is a jolly good listen.:D The slow "lies on his side" part is a good volume now, but I'd like...

"Baby Bitch" by Ween - backing track with guide vocal.

Thanks, Bruiser. I'll attend to those. :) Terse but correct. :) Thanks, Daryl, really glad you liked it. I have to thank my mate for introducing me to this! Thanks, Bulls. I've raised the kick a little, given some 60Hz "oomph" to the overheads and lowered the bass guitar a dB or so. I also...

"Baby Bitch" by Ween - backing track with guide vocal.

Good evening! :) Recently I posted a track called "Game Over", a recreation of a song by a friend of mine's old band. My friend was so happy with the result he asked me if I'd help him with a couple of backing tracks for a few covers he's always wanted to do. This is the first of those, but...

Reaper - ReaGate - Noise Gate

I would split the track and pull down the volume of the parts where you need to. For the slow fades you can pull out fade envelopes of whatever length you need from the ends of your edits and choose from different envelope shapes by right-clicking. PS, don't get precious about editing tracks -...

Got a new Mexican Tele (not due to thread about Mexican Tele's lol)

Oh, come on! HH teles aren't even teles! :D

    Mexican Teles

It might've done then, but if you went back to that setup with what you know now, I'd wager that you could coax a reasonable working tone out of it. :D If you have a halfway decent guitar, a halfway decent amp and reasonable chops I see no reason whatsoever why you wouldn't be able to make a...

    Mexican Teles

It's funny, but I have a big chunk of gig money saved up and I have no idea what to spend it on, music-wise. There's nothing I want for my recording setup. I'm making and recording music well enough to make me very happy and I don't have GAS for anything. If I didn't own a USA tele, I have no...

    Mexican Teles

It's when it becomes an end in itself that it's a problem. It can become an avoidance behaviour, a procrastination. I see it all the time. The Marshall forum is saturated with those twats. :D

    Mexican Teles

Touché, sort of, but the entire modification cost me ten English pounds to get done and made the guitar playable in a live situation :D. Anything other than basic low gain settings resulted in a storm of squealing. They weren't tone mods as such, just stuff that needed to be done to preserve my...

No problem. I actually only meant turn up the volume of the refrain. Your track has a decent enough level. :D

    Velvet Underground -- Heroin (Cover)

Regarding gradual tempo changes, if you're using Reaper it's easy. When you insert a tempo change marker there's a little tick box that says "Transition tempo gradually to next marker".
