New tune hot off the griddle...

Nitpicking here, but I think the drums could groove better. You seem somewhat mechanical and robotic on the set. But I realize if your singing and playing all the instruments chances are your not going to be a seasoned drummer along with everything else. Nice tune.

Please listen and let me know what you think!

Hey Brian, I think the major recording issues have already been covered. You might think about doing another rhythm guitar track to achieve a fuller sound, and possibly some accompanying riffs if it fits your style. Performance-wise I would focus on cleaning up the guitar strumming. Make sure...

    for prog metal fans

I'd say those keyboards could come up some. Especially during the "verse". The rhythm distorted guitar sounds pretty distant and detached from mix. Bass could be a little loud.

    my new band

I will now refer you to your own "go change your tampon and shut your mouth" comment.

    Dumpster baby

I think you should make a sock puppit short film of this guy and have this be the soundtrack. :D

    my new band

You are 100% correct. My remarks are completely my own opinion, as are all of my postings. I was merely stating it. But more objectively, without labeling your band, the song is fairly simple musically. That’s not inherently good or bad, like you said. What I am suggesting though, is that even...

    Finally finished our mixes!!!

"Stand Up" Drums are pretty loud in the mix. Guitars are not very audible in comparison. I would adjust both of these accordingly. Mix as a whole sounds muddy, I am reminded of a washing machine. Definitely good drum and vocal performance. I couldn't really make out the guitar and bass very...

    my new band

This genre should have died with Blink 182, I really wish you and bands like you would stop trying to perpetuate the musical travesty that is pop punk. Its great your getting involved with playing music, playing with other musicians, and taking a stab at recording, but I really think your time...

    Qualifications...

Keep in mind, when I give comments on this board I'm usually being hypercritical and probably excessively picky. I didn't mean to undermine my appreciation of your compositions, I am only making observations about any areas of improvement I can see. The emotional impact is indeed present...

    Qualifications...

Oops, I just realized you had more songs. I am really enjoying your stuff. Again, some of the instruments/samples really could be of higher quality, and I think that is all that is standing in your way to having some top notch recordings. One I noticed in particular is the horn lead in...

I love the composition, I only wish I could hear it with some higher quality samples. Whatever synth your using doesn't do this piece justice.

    Need Feedback

This is a quality product. Everything seems to sit well in the mix. I might bump the vocals up one tiny bit of a smidgen. Obviously the drum loop isn't ideal, but the rest of the performance more than compensates for it. Love how the bass sounds. Very well done.

please listen/critique a few of my originals

Well, the guitar performance and recording is really impressive. Really crisp sound and tight playing. The vocals weren't quite up to this same level. I found them to be a little less clear and often a little off-pitch. Some harmonies worked well, others not so well. I'd focus on keeping the...

    How is it?

Dude, that chord progression comprises about half of all Blink 182 songs. Cool if your just working on recording and mixing and such, but the song writing doesn't exhibit very thoughtful or original composition.

    Two new songs

"Sunshine" I think the song could be shorter and still not loose anything. For one, I might shorten up the intro. After a minute plus of 2 chord alternating I start to loose interest quickly, which doesn't do the chorus justice. I like what happens at 1:16, you might consider elaborating on...

another new banga "If I ever Leave you baby..."

I'm no expert on this genre in the least sense, so take that into consideration. But it sounds like sometimes you need like a cup of coffee or to take a deep breath and get some more air and energy flowing in your vocals, mainly in the chorus. But again, this really isn't my genre, so whatever...

    Comments?

Yeah, vocals need work, but you know that. Drums are too high. I know this genre, espeically Metallica, puts their drums pretty high in the mix, but the drums are noticeably overpowering other parts of the song, namely the guitar. I agree with others, the guitars are pretty far away and distant...

Hm. Interesting song to walk down the aisle to.

    New Band!!!

The drums sound like card board boxes; this may be due to the bass interfering/overpowering them. This mix in general seems to be bass heavy. Theres also some timing issues in the performance. Backing vocals sound great, might come up just a smidgen.

    ANother mix for critique!

I dislike the snare sound. Sounds somewhat hollow and weak in the mix. The drum sounds "choked". If it is a real snare you are using, I might suggest loosening the tuning a little and giving it a touch of reverb.
