Look into watercooling kits. Without seeing more specifics on your situation I can't get more specific than that.

    RSIC-1 spacing, window treatment

I may have gotten a bit wordy but you asked why the two foot vertical spacing. The reason is the maximum unsupported distance in drywall. Even in an non-structural wall you need studs at least every two feet apart because otherwise your drywall would wobble when pressed against and crack. Now...

    fiberglass gobos - plywood backing?

Wow, that is a great gobo design. I had never thought of making the back panel curved to add stability and so it would act as a diffuser. (That also seems to be going past a lot of the folks here.)

    Getting the room Right?

Be Flexible in your thinking. Most folks presume that to be in the corner the four foot dimension must be vertical. This position is just as much 'in the corner' On a unrelated subject although hanging your axes on the wall looks cool the strings will vibrate sympathetically with any music...

    Getting the room Right?

it is absurdly easy. If you don't care about crisp corners you don't need any carpentry skill whatsoever. No. You only need enough treatment to get the room to sound right. In addition bass does not collect in the corner so much as it forms between a corner and the opposite corner (that...

    How to treat this rooms...

If you are going to go out and get 703 build your own bass traps too, since you will have to buy whole bales of 703 at a time. I would put floor to ceiling corner bass traps behind the drums then a pair of wall mounted absorbers behind the drums and then begin adding staggered panels to the...

    RSIC-1 spacing, window treatment

Here are the general considerations. First what is your area of unsupported drywall. In normal two feet on center studs you have an unsupported distance of two feet of drywall. If you push that too far you will have a 'mushy' feeling wall if you lean on it and a potential for cracking. That...

Please Help Me Choose A Mike

I faced much the same question and chose a MXL V93 (aka 2003). it worked but later I decided that I would rather be using the bari qualities of my voice and am now using a ribbon mostly.

    Mics For Recording

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/AudioTechnica-AT2041SP-AT2020-AT2021-Microphone-Pack?sku=270455 Some of the other techniques here are probably a little awkward for beginner use. The thought of using a good dynamic instead of the Large diameter condenser for the vocal would be OK...

    Vocal mic for "thin" voice

I am using one of the chinese ribbons from the last group buy on my preamp I had to change the setting from about a 7 to 8 if the dial was numbered. You definitly want to have a pop filter and perhaps an off-center placement. An accidental phantom power will not zorch the thing unless there is...

    StudioProjects C1 ?????Newbee Question

The C1 when it first came out broke a price/quality barrier that was fairly radical for the time. Some reviewers in their enthusiasm resorted to hyperbole in saying it was just as good as a Neuman. In the years since many other vendors have done exactly what competitors do...compete. So the...

    Treatment questions...your advice

You won't be able to by the right stuff at Home Depot. The fluffy fiberglass thermal insulation is not dense enough. You will need to go to a place that supplies insulation to contractors. You need semi-rigid boards of about 3-5 pounds per cubic foot density. I usually get unfaced since that...

    room too dead!

if you really want to go the natural reverb route I would go with some sort of a convex curved surface to act as a diffusor and bounce the sound around in more paths to that it won't seem so small-roomish.

DIY Diffusors - Do they exist???

For a DIY diffusor I would skip the complex geometric calculations and precise measurement and go with a simple convex curve. Use a piece of masonite and bend it over some curved edge boards for the frame. That is much more in the DIY realm and fairly effective.

    room too dead!

if you try to put back natural reverb into your small square room you will be back to square one...small square room reverb. Instead try dialing in some biger room reverb in your mix.

Need Studio Arrangment and Treatment Advice

The general advice is to have your desk centered on the wall on the long axis of the room. In this case though the room is so nearly square that the 'long axis consideration is minor at best. one thing you might do is to remove the doors of the closet. Generally the closthes hanging there...

    Burlap around rigid Fiberglass

The key thing among the solutions that work are that you are attaching the fabric to the fabric and not to the fiberglass. The fiberglass (and even worse rock wool) that pretty much any glue for the fabric to the fiberglass will not work because the upper layer of the fiberglass will just pull off.

    Second floor studio questions

But isn't the point to get the two layers acting like one big mass? The elastomeric properties of GG I do not doubt, but that would tend to imply some sort of decoupling function, which is not the goal at that part of the wall system. Decoupling is what he is spending all that money on RSIC clips!
