Having an Objective View of Your Abilities

yeah, it's an interesting job ......... I had built up a huge customer base in BR and did 3-5 a day 6 days a week. I know that sounds hard to believe but I had 2500 churches on my account list and about the most I can do is around 900 a year so I was always snowed under. And, of course, a LOT of...

    GFS pickups

that IS interesting .... of course lipstick buckers are a different beast than a classic bucker in construction but I think it holds its own .... a little lower in output and bit thinner sounding to me

    GFS pickups

first off .... not everyone makes guitar decisions based on later on, selling the guitar. Personally, I don't give the least little crap about what something will do for the resale value of my guitar unless it's something worht tens of thousand of dollars. 5 or 6 hundred bucks is...

    GFS pickups

I have some GFS alnico overwounds in my strat and they're really quite good. I also have a set of their tele pickups in my tele and it's an excellent traditional sounding tele. Both sets sound as good as stock Fender stuff easily. I can't imagine you'll be disappointed and, personally can't...

    The New Tone Thread

actually I have to go back and edit my post .... I said with the midrange at 3 'o' clock but I meant to say at 9 'o' clock and even lower. I sometimes might even run the mids on zero ..... as for Fendery, I have no problem getting a fendery tone .... my V has 6L6's though ..... that kinda puts...

    The New Tone Thread

the midrange control is the key .... up to around halfway up, it's just a midrange control ..... past about halfway it also starts increasing gain in that mid area .... so max mids also boosts the gain. If you want a more Fendery tone (Not counting the graphic) the mid control's gonna be around...

    Mesa Boogie Mark V 25

right ..... I was commenting on the Mark V 25 which does have a short tank and is the amp Robus bought

    Mesa Boogie Mark V 25

Since the Mark V 25 head is only 14" wide I find it unlikely that it has a 16" tank unless Mesa is using wormhole technology

    getting my pickup repaired.

just an observation ..... read an article by a p'up designer (forgot who) and he said the resistance of a p'up tells you nothing about it's output and/or tone. His example .... take a hot p'up, measure its resistance and see how loud it is. Then remove the magnets .... it will measure exactly...

    Mesa Boogie Mark V 25

mine's a combo so no. Mine is a gigging amp .... it saves on needing so many pedals and the versatility lets me do country/rock/blues (ugh)/ jazz/raggae with the same amp. The one thing I don't need is heavy so for me it's perfect but I would think for heavier sounds the closed back would be the...

    Mesa Boogie Mark V 25

I have a V ..... great amp. Dunno about the 25-V but the V is a great amp. The verb will absolutely do whatr a Fender reverb will do .... I dunno about IBBs DC5 but Mesa 'verbs are all over the place. My Mesa Blue Angel was specifically designed to have a great verb and it will outdo any Fender...

    The New Tone Thread

hey .... take your warning and stick it up your ass. This is a thread that's only been visited by a small group of people .... we'll say what we want in it. If we're gonna have you clowns come in here and 'clean up' a thread you have absolutely not participated whatsoever then I'm out. Ain't no...

yeah ...... mine too. I'm surprised you have the dreaded fizz under control with those pedals ,,, especially the DS 1 which is a pedal that I think should be removed from the time line. But it's not fizzy ..... pretty powerful.

    The New Tone Thread

nah .... they didn't have a real reason ..... I started a thread about it and they stumbled all over themselves trying to come up with a reason. It was kind of a "it depends on what 'is' is" explanation. Anyways .... up to us to keep the thread going .... and greg's actually gonna post stuff...

    The New Tone Thread

sounds good and rocking to me. I don't hear too much fizz and to be honest, as much as I hate fizz, more and more I'm hearing it in amps .... never really noticed it before. But when modelers came around their excessive fizz really made me pretty sensitive to it. So I'm not totally sure how...
