record through usb and mic in?

Bummer. I have an Audiobox. I was hoping to record drum OHs through the Audiobox and a kick trigger through the mic in, just to timestamp the kick notes so they could be replaced with a sample. Looks like the best I can do to fake the third input is try to trigger off the OH tracks...

record through usb and mic in?

Does Reaper have provisions to record from a USB interface and the computer's mic in jack simultaneously?

    SDC on FOK?

    Then why are LDCs preferred?

    SDC on FOK?

This is a question just out of general interest. I have read that diaphragm size doesn't strongly affect low frequency response. Why then are SDCs almost never used in front of the kick?

    Need opinion on drum sound

Your pies are pretty spread out, can you move the china a foot to the left? Of course there's not much you can do to get to that second floor with a mic in your face....

Help me pick a couple of condensors?

Thanks for taking the time to respond, Julien. I just happened upon a Craigslist ad for two lightly used AT3035s for $160 so I'm going to jump on that if I can...

Recording kick samples with two condensors

Anyone? How would you record kick drum if you only had two condensors?

    Are there quiet-er cymbals?

Hearing damage is pretty much required to get used to sustained exposures at 115+ dB.

Recording kick samples with two condensors

Oops, sorry if I wasn't clear. I mentioned two channels because that's all I can record at once, so I can't mic OHs and kick simultaneously. I'll record OHs and use those tracks to trigger samples of my kick drum. The question is how to use those two condensors, the only mics available, to...

Recording kick samples with two condensors

Hello. Just getting started with recording drums. I have two channels available which I'll use for overheads. I'd like to use a replacement plugin and mix my kick samples in. It seems pretty clear that one mic should go in front of the kick. But can I use the other at the batter (outside...

    Let's see your kits

Snare is 3.5x12, toms 8x10, 11x13, and 14x16 for the kick. I guess the way to describe the sound is articulate; lots of attack and just enough thump. I hope to do a bit of recording so I'll post soundfiles in a few weeks... =)

Thanks, guys. These are Ego lugs. I think we had a discussion about your metalworks 12x4 over on the shed, but I'm usually on GhostNote. You should join us! Here's some more porn for ya:

New Mapex drums or better cymbals...?

It's much easier to hear cheap cymbals than cheap drums. If your shells are still in round and the edges are decent, they should tune up nicely with decent heads, so I say go for the bronze.
