Hey applesmasher..I'm no expert. I remember doing fibonacci #s in school too and I also have some of the same questions you have about this. I would imagine that understanding the math would be the hard part, ;)...Anyway, here, I found this stuff just by typing in the words music and golden...

    Let's play a game

hmmmm....funny...I didn't even notice the phrase "golden ear" when I posted. It is a sign Cyan. ;) >>>research shows that babies like to be sung to, and that they prefer consonant melodies to dissonant ones. I think this is where the concept is born, that even though all melodies consist of...

    Let's play a game

Kind off topic. But, this wildcard thing you like to talk about, I always felt was a very vague and intangible thing that was based on nothing more then biases. Maybe, I was wrong. :) In the context of this thread, for some reason, what you said above about the wildcard triggers something in...

    What Confucius taught about songwriting

    >>>>any attempt to break the rules of songwriting ( or anything else) without knowing the rules will always result in embarrassment. >>>>I was going to ask Roktuk how he would stray from the verse/chorus format without sounding stupid to the world. Ofcourse, everyone wants people to like...

    How do punch ins work?

a lot of software apps will provide you with the option of precisely setting the exact time that the re-recording starts. Set it up so it starts just before the mistake and ends just after the mistake is over. Usually that snippet is only a window as small as a couple of seconds...The good...

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 different from Sonar

You could always start with home studio and then upgrade to sonar at a later date..., I could be wrong, but in the long run I think you wind up paying less for sonar that way.... ...just a thought.

    Please hel a newbie guitarist...

    >>>>>>>According to you what i need next? Depends what kind of results you want. If you want to get as close to a professional sound as you can get you are going to have to start with getting a new card. If you are going to just make some demos for yourself, your band, your friends, or maybe...

    warning! experimental hillbilly orchestration!

Very cool....Guit playing seemed to have an Irish folk song flavor to it. Good levels.....would have liked it better if it had a synchronized ending. But as whole, I don't like it any less because it didn't. (if that makes sense :D) Rock on man.

Yah, I use Cakewalk for this Tex is right about manual key signature setting, editing note durations and the like....I'm sure there is better software out there for this other then Cakewalk. But, once you get used to it it's not so bad. But then again, I suppose you could get used to...

If you are only going to be using soundfonts, midi and samples then foam should do the trick man........Actually I'm not sure why you absolutely need anything to sound proof it if that's all you are using....I mean how loud do you need it???........, I usually like low volumes for mixing...

Well thanks stratomaster....I try. I could of sworn there were a couple of posts here about bleeding ears and selling equipment  ....pretty harsh stuff that wasn't constructive at all....The authors of those posts deleted them..... Now that they are gone, it kind of makes my post look a...

pretty avant-gaurd stuff dude... Thumbs up for thinking outside the box.... Bottom line is you really can't expect many people to dig this....this genre of electronica that has a 'rawness' (if you will) to it has a small niche somewhere though. Good luck trying to find it. I only...

    Plug ins or outboard processors???

You can do that...i.e. use external effects and preamps....actually you are going to need to use a preamp anyhow.......Just plug 'em on in.....Just remember that as a general rule the more shit you plug into (or put in the signal chain) before going into the computer, the more potential there is...
