what I've read on many forums is that the safesound P1 has been recommended by many poeple. of course the safesound doesn't look as cool, but I heard it sounds pristine. also, its hard to beat an FMR RNP and RNC combo in a Funk Logic rack.

IMHO the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 is a great/inexpensive upgrade from the creative card. but the Studio Projects VTB-1 is a colored pre. to hook up a colored mic + colored pre would sound like caca. IMO of course. I would get the mxl 67g with the m audio dmp3 as recommended in an earlier post...

I had the vamp-2 and only messed around a couple of times with the pod. I think the pod is a step up, but not "enough" for the trouble. IMHO, if I were to upgrade, I would just go for the podxt. that would be a major improvement.

what are your specs? windows or mac? if windows, pent 3 or 4, how many ghz, how much ram, sepearte hard drives? win 98 or xp? do you get the problem only with mp3 playback or studio recordings? I have a PC with US-122. and I've never had a problem. but I do have 2 seperate hardware profiles...

check out the hafler TA1600 for $250. what I've heard is (and I could be wrong), if you go any cheaper your mixes will suffer.
