    Amp For Phantom Power

What will you use for an interface to your recorder (assuming you're doing it on a computer into a DAW of some sort)? Many (most?) interfaces have preamps built in, and you need nothing. You'd need an external preamp ONLY if your interface lacked a preamp (ie, is a simple analog/digital...

    TASCAM DP 24 - 32 - Easy question

Why not run the speakers off the stereo (main) outputs? What else would you use them for? Or ... buy a simple speaker switch that would allow you to mute the monitor output to the speakers while listening to phones.

    16 track recording

Are you looking for 16 tracks or 16 channels? Almost any MTR these days can do 16 tracks, only a few can do 16 simulataneously (ie, 16 channels). The Tascam DP-24 (which I own) can do 24 tracks (12 mono, and 12 are paired stereo) but has only 8 input channels. Even the DP-32 has only 8 input...

    TASCAM DP 24 - 32 - Easy question

    1. What's missing from scene is just the fader levels. All current EQ, FX, Pan, etc are saved properly with the song. I don't think you can do "presets". Too bad. 2. It depends on how you use the FX. If you use them on the inputs, then yes, they are written to disk on the track, and can't...

    building a collection

My goal is to make good recordings with the gear I have ... and ONLY buy something new if what I have just will not do. I save a lot of money this way ... :listeningmusic:

What important things have you learned at HomeRecording.com ?

Mic'ing technique for mic'ing a singing guitarist ... don't know how I went so long not knowing it. Not only this specific technique, but the whole idea of capitalizing on the NULL of a mic(s). Sure made my recordings of singer/songwriter stuff a lot better, with decent separation between...

    New DP-24 Firmware!!!

Correct, the DP24 doesn't have "scenes" like the Neo. I'm curious ... the Neo doesn't have motorized faders, correct? And you have to sync the physical faders to the digital settings on a separate screen, correct? And the fader sync behaves differently according to how it's set up in...

Does it matter if you can hear the other instruments on a track?

Didn't finish the thread before posting ... my original post was not to the point. Bad habit of mine ... grin!

    DP24 - CD Playing problem

Complete shot in the dark here, since there's no useful information to go on. Are you sure the disks were properly "finalized"? Read the manual and look up "finalize".

My feelings on the new DP 24

Some valid points. May I share my experience? There are limitations on the effects, but that's true with any MTR. Most musicians will want their own outboard send/insert effects chain anyway, rather than depending on the internal effects. The effects include decent, configurable reverbs and...

    Tracks xferd to daw

The DP24 does 24 bit 48kHz maximum. I can't imagine why you want to go to 96, but to each his own. The simplest way to move audio tracks is to put the dp24 in USB mode, and from the computer copy the MUSIC/SongXXXX folder from the DP24 to the computer. Then import your WAV tracks to the DAW...

Will I have any trouble with this song in the future?

What the heck are you recording to 50 tracks? And how the heck will you mix that? I think you might be having trouble with that song NOW ... ;)

Another way is to create "volume envelopes" ... it's in the manual.

What's the purpose of this forum?

I had assumed it was about the technical issues of recording vocals ... but it seems that people are more interested in getting opinions on the quality of their voice. So, which is it?

    Dp 24 input

I don't think there's anything wrong ... it just takes getting used to it. There is a useful and relatively inexpensive tutorial at ProAudioDVDs.com | Music Technology made EASY!. The implementation of effects can be a bit confusing if you only have the manual. I thought it was worth the money.
