    To Choose a DP-24

Right, the cables, connection and routing are as you say. Left signal input routed to 23, the other to track 24. The left/right stereo mix takes place internally, you don't need to even think about it. No, don't pan anything, in fact, you technically can't pan an input, only a track, and if...

    To Choose a DP-24

No, that's not at all what I meant. The DP-24 has no single stereo input, they're all mono, as they should be. If you want a stereo track on the DP-24 you must take separate left and right signals from your instrument/device to two separate inputs on the DP-24, each of which is assigned to one...

    To Choose a DP-24

You'd want to use two TS (one each, L and R) from the device to two inputs on the DP-24. You would assign one input to the L track and the other to the R track. For example, I have a keyboard ... I take the Left to input G, Right to input H, then assign input G to track 23, input H to track...

DP-008 tracks to Reaper on PC

Disk space. It's just a proprietary file compression scheme.

    To Choose a DP-24

No, I don't. I just know how to use my DP-24, and how to get a good recording. What do you say I'm speculating about? I call 'em like I see 'em.

Tascam dp24 transfering files to windows 8?

I don't know why you can't transfer, it isn't OS specific ... you must be overlooking something. The transfer is simply a USB connection that makes the DP24 look like an external disk drive to the computer ... any computer that supports USB drives.

    DP 24 Effects 2, question.

No, you can't do that internally, only one internal FX processor ... but the 2nd send is for an external FX processor. You could do as you say, I don't know what your result might be, but it's worth a try. I'd record the dry track, and then assign your effect and route to an unused track...

DP-008 tracks to Reaper on PC

You'd still have to convert the internal, proprietary Tascam format before you'd have WAVs ready for the DAW. The actual USB transfer is no problem. I prefer to use USB ... no physical wear and tear on the cards or the card readers.

    send effects Tascam dp24

It's the point at which the raw signal (from the input) is sent out to the effects processor. Pre - before any EQ (or other gain stage); Post - after EQ.

Check out what I did with DP - 008

That was awful. Not sure if it's your recording, or Soundcloud that did it to you. When recording watch your levels ... you need not exceed -12db on any track. You can boost it later if you need to.

DP-008 tracks to Reaper on PC

Yes. Use the EXPORT function on the DP003 (will create WAV files ... must be 16bit 44.1 kHz). Attach to the computer via USB, copy the WAVs to the computer, in Reaper chose Insert|Media File and open the file(s) in new tracks. To go back, be sure you are working in 16/44.1 format WAV, no...

Issues with my first studio condenser mic

Here's the basics: 1) You need to supply a preamp. 2) You need a better interface than the laptop's mic jack, and I suggest a USB 2.0 unit Many USB audio interfaces have built in preamps, and many have built-in phantom power. Your signal chain should be like this ... and everything in...

    To Choose a DP-24

    - This is the first I've heard a DP-24 going back for warranty service. What was the problem? (honest question) The DP-24 has no moving parts other than the CD drive (ie, no hard disk drive) and has no recording heads. - Just like the warranty terms didn't change after purchase, the size of...

    To Choose a DP-24

There are situations where you'd prefer to use the EXPORT function, especially on songs where you've done a lot editing on the DP-24; or you have created tracks of differing lengths. Eg, you put a cello in the bridge and didn't start recording that track from the beginning of the song (ie, all...

    To Choose a DP-24

Once more ... the DP-24 records direct to WAV. Connect it to your computer via USB and the DP-24 appears as an external drive on your computer ... drag and drop to wherever you want the file(s). Easy.
