Midi Timecode from old drum computer

I'm using Live 5.0.3. Question: suppose that I'm not capable of fixing the VSI issue; would it be possible to copy Live multi track recordings to Cubase SX (audio + midi tracks) and maintain the original Live tempo track?

Midi Timecode from old drum computer

Hi, I'm currently using an RME DIGI96/8 PST with the 2.10 version Plug and Play driver for Win 2000/XP (unified driver for DIGI32, 96 and Hammerfall series) running on an Athlon XP 2500 with 512MB RAM Within Live I'm using the ASIO driver Thanks, Jan

Midi Timecode from old drum computer

I’m experimenting with Ableton Live and it actually immediately recognized the external midi time code of the TR626. Besides that, the program is invitingly simple and appears to be stable. I do however have one problem and that’s the VST instruments under Ableton Live. All of them play back...

Midi Timecode from old drum computer

Thanks, I'm going to investigate this Ableton Live solution.

Midi Timecode from old drum computer

Thanks once again. Your info is very helpful. What I already feared is that Cubase SX can’t be slaved to an ordinary Midi time format. Jet it seems like this would be the easiest solution considering that ‘Fostex to TR626’ synch is rock solid and the TR626 provides relatively up to date midi...

Midi Timecode from old drum computer

Unfortunately the Fostex has no midi features. My hope was however, to use the Midi Timecode feature in order to synch (slave) Cubase SX to the TR626. It is my impression that Cubase only transmits MTC and is not capable of slaving to a non specific midi time format like what's transmitted by...

Midi Timecode from old drum computer

Thanks for the reply. This does however leave me with a new problem: How do I slave Cubase to the Fostex? One of the Fostex audio tracks is a TR626 synch track, but I would not know how to synch Cubase to that.

Midi Timecode from old drum computer

Hi friends, Here’s a difficult question: About twenty years ago I made several recordings with Fostex 4 and 8 track audio tape. I often used a Roland TR626 drum computer synchronized to the recording through an audio synch track. I recently bought all this old equipment in order to save my old...

    LD acoustic delay chamber size

Thanks for al your replies. I actually subscribed myself to the recording.org forum but still didn’t post the question, mainly because I’m usually reasonably busy with work and family, but that’s a lousy excuse of course. I actually spend many hours reading posts on the homerecording forum and...

    LD acoustic delay chamber size

A microphone question for the tech heads: How does it come that large diaphragm cardioid microphones are relatively slim compared to small diaphragm mics? (Considering the need for an acoustic delay chamber in order to work as a cardioid) Thanks, Jan

    Mic recommendations for acoustic guitar

Recording mono you’re already greatly handicapped. My recommendation would be to get two AKG C2000B’s and start recording stereo Most underestimated mic ever.

    Cheaper SM57 type mic?

I don't know if it will be of any help but you could consider tearing out the usually thick foam inside the protection grill of the cheap SM58 imitations made by Behringer etc. It makes a big difference on any "stage type" vocal mic, whether dynamic or condenser, and makes them more...

    More links to manufacturers?

With so many different equipment being discussed here on the forum it would be a nice idea to have a sort of ”equipment manufacturer page” with links to the various manufacturers. An other idea would be the good practice to put links behind a product name if you start up a new forum. Or at...

    Need Multi pattern Suggestion

I´m ready for a multi pattern mic. Any suggestions? I already have following cardoide condensers: Neumann TLM103 Rode NTK 2x AKG C2000B 2x old Philips small diaphragm all of them very good sounding mics I guess I need something truly versatile and “omni” at this point. Having already some...

Do small diaphragm(sp?) condensors work well for vocals?

It is funny that you mention the AKG C2000B. I have two of those and they are indeed extremely versatile. I like them very much on vocals but also on guitar cabinets, acoustic guitar and other acoustic instruments. I’ve got a lot of mics, including NTK, and TLM103 and several small diagrams so...

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

I think it´s morally wrong to buy computer software. I also think it’s morally wrong to buy computer hardware, but unfortunately I can’t download it for free.

Deep Purple In Rock: guitar sound?

If I’m correctly informed, Blackmore never used the middle pickup of his strat. He slightly modified the pickup switching of his strat, swapping the middle and bridge pickup. This way he managed to use the “neck – bridge” combination as part of his signature sound.

Question; any progress after Pod and J-Station?

I more or less bought my J-Station out of “technology driven” motivations. I have always been a big believer in a digital effects unit as an alternative to bulky amplifiers and will continue to buy them. Especially because I like to use them for recordings. From my first Zoom, that I bought I...
