You're micing a 4x12 cab?
That may be your whole problem right there.
Monster stacks, and large cabs, while they sound GREAT live, are NOT the ideal choice for recording.

A room mike, set in omni mode is ALWAYS a nice way to bring out some of that airy, room sound.
Sometimes its desireable, sometimes its not.

I've talked to more than a few professional AE's here in Austin, and all of them tell me ProTools sounds like ass.
These are guys that have been in the biz a lot longer than you and I.
When I ask them which digital platform they DO prefer, I get a resounding, hands down, no holds barred answer...

What's interesting, is that the literature states the dimension of the Roxul for wood studs on 16" centers to be 15-1/4".
When I was installing the rockwool in my studio, the studs are 16" on center - so that makes an inside dimension of 14-1/2", but the RocKWool comes in 16" widths.
