The Only Rack Equipment I'll Use from now on

Tried the new Nebula plugin? It's supposed to VERY accurately model outboard gear INCLUDING the distortion. It is NOT impulse response, it's some new technology they developed. It's sounds really, really good. I'm gonna buy it when I upgrade my comp to 2x or 4x core. Right now My computer can...

    miking your monitors after tracking

Anyone try soloing instruments and playing them through your monitors and setting up mics out in the room? How's it work for you? I keep hearing recordings where guitars and drums were recorded at the same time, and theres a cool "live" quality there that I don't get with my recordings, and I'm...

    panning reverb

Oh I didn't see that your aux had a pan knob. Pan the aux knob to the same panning position you have the channel pan set at. See what that does.

    panning reverb

Is the reverb louder on the side that you panned it to, or is the reverb still coming equally out of both channels?

    panning reverb

try putting the aux channel you're using into "post fader". If there is not an actual switch/button for this, than maybe there are aux sends that are permanently pre fader, and some that are permanently post fader. Use the aux that is post fader. how are you hearing the reverb? is it coming out...

    Any special recording tricks?

also the original poster is an engineer badass. I really liked his pioneering use of the terms "fat boys" and "sparkle shit". At least he's creative. I'm gonna give him some positive rep+++++ for his efforts.

    Any special recording tricks?

I heard somewhere that a 57 fits perfectly into the opening of a plastic milk gallon, and you can cut off the top half and use that as a shield. Also, cut a hole in a styrofoam cup. Haven't tried either of these.

    panning reverb

-the send could be set up pre fader in your DAW(assuming it's on a send) -your DAW might have a separate panner for the send yup, probably a DAW specific problem, one which cannot be helped without more information from you on which DAW you're using, how you're running the plugin, etc. You...

Band I recorded in one day

I mean, the sounds you got are fine, but it's nothing I would want to listen to, which is the point of the recording. It's not your fault though. They need a new drummer quick.

The recording quality and the quality of the musicians is not mutually exclusive.

Just scheduled my Black Lion Audio mod

I wish they'd make a mod for the presonus firepod. That's a pretty popular interface. Or maybe I should just mini-upgrade to a mackie or some shit. I guess the new firestudio is supposed to have better pres and converters though too.

Vocal- LDC vs Nice Quality Dynamic

A plastic garbage can is not breathable, if your absorbtive material is covered by something you want it to be thin and breathable. Also, does sand have good absortive qualities?
