I believe Cannibal Corpse used or uses them as well at some point. They're nice sounding amps. Crate isn't a half bad company when it comes to tubes. They get a lot of shit for their low end SS stuff, but come on, in that perspective, Marshall sucks too.

SM7b. Works amazingly well on a guitar cab, especially when paired with another mic. This is from the perspective of micing for a vintage/light crunch tone, of course. I have no experiance using this mic on a high gain amp.

I would rely on the venue...If you started having tickets printed for shows, you would have an extra step of confronting the Venue that people would be showing up with tickets that didn't go through them...they might not like that.
