thanks, guys... somehow, my problem usually rise up on two parts - - - Bass kick and snare in certain, the kicking sounding way better to my ear than to D 112 sometimes, Bass Kick sounds awsome... but snare ends up crap (even i set it up the same....) WELL, first my definition of good and bad...

After spend quite a lot of money on equipments... i have to admit that, i am very suckie engineer. Now i do have 7 mics- Beyer M201 C451 B AKG 112 D C 4000 Studio Project C1 Sm 58 D60 s BUT.... the result of recording sometimes sound crap! 7 mics sometimes may sounds even worst than 1...

Hey, I Got The M201... i finally bought it... so far it works like a M451.....(maybe i use it in a wrong way) would that be a problem if u supply phantom power even on dynamic mic's track? beacuse i usually set up my mixer as (Phantom power on all channels);

C414!!!!!!!1 are u talking about those small pick up mic, AKG C 414!?!?! wow.... what i know is , mostly u will pick up those "low-boom" from overhat with C414 beacuse C414 is too small to pick up wider enough angles... i usually use big condensor mic for overhead, at the same time it can also...

so Micophone recording is NO USE? Trigger is so much easier.... and better quality i am now very worry.... is there any "TRUE recording (without trigger) drum"? or that mircophone recording can never reach the quality of trigger? is that why 70's drum sounds so crappy? and 80's sound so fake...

have u use the EQ frequency "visual mesasurment"? Look at left up place you see "HOME RECORDING.COM" ...the picture in the bottom.....is the answer you to have pay attention on the EQ meters sometimes our ear can be foolish...but meters won't...they speak the fact so make sure u got ur EQ...

my favour........ I PICK DREAMTHEATER's recording in 1997...not earier one , not the recently one............. :cool: It's perfect compress and EQ to me...Clean and powerful punch Maroon 5 sounds cool to me (This Love) nice bass kick pumping and clean OH!, Fefe Dobson's Take Me Away and Bye...

IN a way, without increased the volume of other stuff but snare..... avoid of "Mezzy" sounding try to keep snare drum tie but clean.... what EQ and compress setting u guys suggest? Bass kick is best in 2:1 ratio and boots on 3K above and 300 cut off ...how about snare? :confused:

my idea.... in my experiences :o .... SM 57/SM 58 do not handle that "high quality" vocal recording because it's not that sensivity it's ok for live performance, but for recording, it's a bit detailless. I would go for condensor mic if your purpose is on vocal and guitar. condensor usually...
