Whenever I use them when I record at 24-bit, they don't load the file up faster at all, its like I'm using them without .pk files but in fact I am. Peak files only work for me when I'm working with 16-bit files.

You can disable the writing of .pk files at Options > Settings > System. .Pk files store the waves display information and I've noticed with 16-bit files, it loads up very quickly. Do I use them? No.
