Hey,
So I have the chance to get a new interface (At the moment I have none due to my Line 6 not being compatible with Win7).
Okay, so here's my list:
£500 budget roughly.
8 Mic Inputs
No fussed over instrument inputs really, maybe a line for a keyboard or something.
Good quality preamps...
Well, I've had a look around, and I'm probably more confused now than ever.
I've read about people who can't live without their mixers, others that have gladly got ridden of them.
I guess the mixer option is more "professional", due to the huge boards you see in studios, and that's what we use...
Alright, thanks guys.
I've just read an article in a mag saying if your recording drums often, with multi-mics, your better off with a mixer.
Is this true? I've looked into mixers before, the USB ones never seem to be as good, and I don't fancy buying a mixer and multi-soundcard, just too...
For DAW at the moment it's Reaper. I want to upgrade, but I've been waiting to get the new interface before realising the software I just bought isn't what I need.
And the business at the moment is barely a business really. To be honest, I'd be happy just recording people, I love doing it. I'd...
Hey,
So I'm currently doing a college course in the UK on music technology. I know a bit about interfaces etc, but I'm a self confessed newbie.
A friend and I are looking to start a small 'business', recording bands etc. When I say recording, I mean demo quality as it won't be in a studio, and...
From a quick look, they seem pretty empensive for me (In the UK), although that being said is the interface part of similar quality to a PCI interface for example? If so they're about the same money for value.
Ah, I've seen these but always thought that they were considered worse than the mixer - soundcard way.
I'll defo check them all out, and read Tweak alot more, thanks guys.
Ah right.
So pretty much I have to get the levels etc perfect on the mixer, otherwise I'm screwed because it's all taken to the stero pari, which I assume is one track in software?
And I'm looking to buy a new soundcard, my one at the moment is more for gaming/movies etc rather than music...
Hey,
So I have a quick question which is most likely quite easy to resolve.
I'm looking at buying a mixer, possibly the Mackie 1402 VLZ3, which I'd connect to my PC by using the ALT 3-4 out.
On "TweakHeadz" it says "The soundcard line out connects to any two available line inputs. The can...
Hey.
So I think it's my mic :(
I tried it with a different cable, same circumstances. Still happens.
Tried plugging it in directly, no problem...
Unless it's my noisy room (My condenser has to have the bass cut on to eliminate the noise) I think my mic's caput.
Edit:
Using my other mic...
A guitar amp at the moment. Happend with just an acoustic. It's the same guitar, (It's an electro acoustic) so most likely my playing. Cables new, seems to be alright. And the stands fine.
So I think it's probaly my playing style (Style? Bad habits more like) or something like a compressor on it?
Hey,
Noiticed that my SM57 seems to swell in volume. I set the levels, then it will dip, rise, and go back to normal when playing.
Not sure if it's just my ears, anyone think of a reason it could be happening?
Ah, exactly what I have.
I think it could be my PC. More optomised for gaming than audio
I'll do a few fixes, see if it helps. And yeah, it did seem louder in my 'phones :p
Thanks for helping a noob out man :)
Hey
I have a SE2200a running into a Line 6 Toneport UX2.
I've got Phantom power on, plugged in, checked connections.
The noise I'm getting, is like there's a delay/echo on the sound. And also sometimes the signal gets louder, hard to explain.
Anyone know what this could be?
Edit:
I just...
