thanks for chiming in raymond... it's mostly subjective, i know, but i don't want the drums to cover up the instruments, just to give as much punch to the bass and guitars as i can try to blend them together... on certain playback systems, the drums sound perfect to me, but on others, they seem...

ok, direct mix question: are the drums a bit too loud in this, or just right? i'm thinking i can take them down a bit. this is a new mix.

I USE hardware compression going in, parallel compression on the acoustic buss, and light compression on the track at mixdown. the hardware compression gives me color, and tames just the peaks, makes it much more mixable... the parallel compression on the buss, lets me dial in the final level...

that guitar sounds great as is. thing is, if you HAVE a great sounding room, then moving the cabs ( and the 2nd mic, if you are capturing the room sound) makes sense... but these days, with the advent of IR's being able to put your sound in ANY room you could imagine, it makes more sense to...
