I honestly found the fast track pro a pain in the ass to set up but once it was up and running it worked great. My personal favorite is the tascam us-800 which I paid 150$ for and it has 6 mic/line inputs(all of which have phantom power) and it has worked great right out of the box. Allot more...
Why not just do like chili said and use one driver or the other. Your volume issue is most likely due to using 2 different drivers, or a gain stage error.
One of the great benefits of recording drums with only four mic's is that you can get the sound you want and record other instruments at the same time. I got the cad cm217's for 50$ at GC because they were buy one get one free. I personally enjoy finding cheap mic's that sound better than your...
I can't speak about the 906 but the e609 really isn't that great for guitars. I use it as a kick drum mic and know several people who like to use it for toms.
You can get a pretty good sound with only 4 mic's. Use the 57 on the snare and buy a senneheiser e609(100$ new) for your kick and some Cad Cm217's(50$ each new) for your overheads. just aim the overheads at the edge of the cymbals pointed at the floor tom and the other at the hi-hat. you'll have...
Tascam us800. its costs almost the same as the fast track pro and is allot easier to use. The sound quality is about the same between the two and the tascam has 6 mic/line inputs vs. the fast track's 2 mic/line inputs.
Know how to blend the individual drums together so that they function as one unit. You can't stop bleed when you record drums no matter how much gating you do(unless you use use samples). Just don't try and fight the bleed and learn to work with it. Also like everyone else here has said tune...
I'm gonna have to agree with kidkage about the tascam us800. It works really well for the price point with better sound quality than the price implies. If you must go with one of your selections then I'd say the Zoom R16. Don't do the fast track, they're a pain in the ass to set up and get...
The last time I went in to buy XLR cables the guy at the counter tries telling me all about the better more expensive ones. This is the point where I very bluntly told him that I don't give a damn and that I already have what I need. While this was happening his boss was behind the...
Have you tried to remove the plastic outer case to see if it just needs a little tlc? Most amp repair people do this on the side if you don't feel comfortable doing it your self.
Ok everyone so I just bought a 1965 Teisco MJ-2L. It has obviously been used but I only paid 40$ for it and thought I'd try and fix it up a bit and bring it back to former glory. After I opened up the body cavity everything seemed like it was in good working order(the shop I bought it from said...
This is how I always start a recording. The only time I really use stereo is if I record something with double kick and I'm trying to make the bass stand out against it. I hear allot of metal recordings where the bass is almost inaudible because of the double kick.
I think GC sells a 2 channel preamp that also has phantom power for 50$. Do you hear any crackling trough the mic. this could be a sign of a bad solder joint in your mixer.
