I'd have to say when we finished recording a band in their practice space and while the mic's were still on one of their friends came down the stairs and yelled "I just got a nug for 50 cents". we all laughed so hard that we decieded to leave it in.
Personally I never really thought of panning oh's, I just mic'ed everything that I needed and that was that. The only reason I can think of someone wanting to record in mono aside from their equipment is trying to replicate a mic 60's sound.
What if your like me and record with a mic on the...
He's right, all the so called pro's keep the unwritten language unwritten to make the rest of us feel inferior and waste more money. But aside from my brief rant does anyone know where the reaper manual can be downloaded? preferably for free.
Wouldn't it be easier to just run the "speaker cables" off of the board and connect your mics to the snake via xlr cables. Also you don't want to use instrument or 1/4 in cables you want speaker cables, they're the same size but are used for 2 different things.
What are you using to monitor the recording and what are you listening to the playbacks through. burn a cd of what you recorded and try to listen to it on different platforms and then decide if its too much treble
like gecko said the moniters effect the accuracy of what you recorded. with this in mind I usally just monitor with the built in speakers. Once I have a mix I like I take it and play it on various stereo setups to see how it sounds. Listen to it on things like a ghetto blaster, Ipod, car stereo...
I always assumed that the perception 120 was as ldc needing 48v. did you buy it new? also does it work independently? this sounds like your cable might have crapped out on you. the akg perception series is a good bargain line of mics.
My band already has a potential buyer and a very rough recording. The Curbside Avengers - Aflac - YouTube This song was written as a joke and our friends started saying things like its practically a jingle already. Please don't judge the recording too harshly because our recording setup is not...
contact spray is all I needed to use to fix my fender sidekick. I bought it for 50$ and it may not be as loud as i'd like but still a great practice bass amp, and almost gig worthy.
Turn the high down in the eq a little bit. I also got good results with the recorderman setup but if you take it one step further and mic the snare and kick separately then you can use the oh's to capture the cymbals and toms. This not only gives you more ability to get the balanced sound you...
Don't do it yourself. Its really hard to do backing vocals when they sound identical to the lead vocals. Allot of the Ramones songs with harmonies had joey's little brother singing on them.
I think digital consoles give an easier feel to the whole process. I only wish they would make them more like the analog boards for more options when sound checking.
