if you really want to mod your ax, sure you could. you'd have to use an ohm meter to measure the resistance of the sweet spot on your volume pot, then install a switch with a series resistor of that same value that bypasses the volume pot.

you can check it with a multi-meter if you really want to know. get some graph paper and draw a line down 10 segments then across to the right ten segments. measure the two outside terminals (meter set on ohms of course) of the pot and write that at the top of your graph, divide by ten, then...

yup. tone aside, his melodic lead style always tickled my ears. he's one of the guitarist (unknown at that) that i never get tired of hearing.

word! i can run my V3 at a medium volume and it sounds fscking awesome. these amps also have a 100/50 watt switch that helps, but i don't believe you have to dime out a tube amp to get great tone out of it. it's all about passing the signal thru a good set of tubes, weather you drive them...

now all that being said, there is a guitarist that posted earlier in this thread (about when it was started...maybe) that doesn't read music, know music theory, and maybe doesn't even know the notes that well....but he's totally badass. superhuman. (that's his username and describes his guitar...

that can even be trying. if i can't say to the other guitarist, "D, F#, G" and have to say, "chords on 5th string-5th fret, top string 2nd fret" or "you play it like this" for the 3rd time, then he's own his own and better have a good ear 'cause i ain't doin' that.

the "pure amp sound" can only be gotten from a line out. the mic statement shouldn't even be in there. i'd contact him to make sure he wasn't trying to say something else but i certainly wouldn't plug a 57 into the amps line-out. :D

high gain tube amps can get a bit fizzy. have you tried cutting the presence all the way back and using the treble knob to set your highs? my V3 gets fizzy with too much presence and gain at the same time.

i'd throw and overdrive pedal in front of that marshall. that'll give you all the gain you need.

that would be dangerous to the marshall if you push any real output from the orange and dangerous to the orange because input of the marshall would be an improper load. amps you can do that with will have a preamp out on the back made to run into a power amp. i did this with solid state amps...

nah, it's all good man. i thought that was good advice when posted and still do. i don't normally buy anything without plugging into it first but that's not an option with carvin. still, even though it could be a pain in the ass, the 10 day return policy helps keep one from getting stuck...
