    panning question

I don't think so, L and R to us a bus should be preserved. More likely, using 2 busses is giving you a different latency in one side. Easy way to tell is to put a strong effect like distortion on just one guitar track. Listen to the single bus and see if it is still only on one side.

Starting to record a new podcast, please help me get a better recordings from my setu

I think that is just ambient noise. Even though the mic is usb, it still will pick up a mouse fart in the other room. It does sound like you have a ton of gain though even though you said it was on minimum. What software are you using and how? Could be that optimizing your signal chain will help...

    FL Studio

I don't know FL Studio at all, but I'm gonna throw this out there because a lot of other DAWs have the feature of temporarily rendering a track to audio which then frees up a ton of memory and CPU that the effects on that track were using. I use Sonar and you can "freeze" a track. You may...

Recording one guitar cab with another one

I don't know where to start?? When I was 9, I thought of making a parachute out of paper bags and jumping off our roof. If it had worked.... well.. In your defence (god knows you need some) a lot of kick drums are mic'd with a speaker. Get it right, and the speaker only picks up everything...

    What else do I need?

For software, most DAWS have a home version that sell from $50-$100. SonarEssentials I think is $49.95 and gives you everything you need. Another good one is Reaper which is free to try, and if you like like it, you pay a very small fee, more if you use it commercially.

    Of course...

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your grief. You sound like a good kid, and it really gets me when anyone gets ripped off but especially rookie drummers! This may sound crazy, but you might want to check e-bay or your local Kijiji. I have bought tons of stuff especially on e-bay and knock on wood...

Please watch, thumb down or up..

I'm sorry I'm rude, but music is a talent. You can practise to improve the talent, but if you lack the talent to start with, what are you improving with practise? I'm sure there are lots of things you do well, but singing isn't one of them.

    I'm Lost

Ok, time to flame, As mentioned, search the previous posts. This question has been asked at least 500 times.I am so tired of Lugans wanting the answers given to them. Look it up. Do some work. Should we pour the milk on your cereal cause you don't know how??

    The importance of acoustics

Now I'm confused? Was there a question? You run a studio in your parents living room? Do your lugan friends actually play instruments? Posts like this just piss me off. Have a good day, and get the hell off my lawn!

    First Song Post

Love the site, man that brings me back! Drums sound like that 808 kind of thing, but for a 25 year old porta studio, that is really nice. Now that we are feeling nostalig, here's a cover I originally did about 25 years ago on a portastudio but have long lost the recording. I redid it a couple of...

    Anxiety - Work In Progress

I have a fairly decent sound setup for listening. Actually, the guitars and bass sound great, but the drums sound wimpy and hidden. I can bairly hear the kick and the snare. The cymbals also are very shy. It may just be my taste, but for this type of song, I'd like to feel the kick and have some...

    Drive mix

Wow I am really impressed. The changes are subtle, but you really made some great tweeks. The harmonies blew me away. Blended just right, not overwhelming. I don't know what to say. The only complaint (which is not you) is the quality of the backing track. I'm not sure if you are into writing...

    Drive mix

OK, Sorry, that was a little harsh. I listened again. Vocals are good, backing track isn't the best quality soundwise though. That could be the Soundcloud posting though. The only thing I would say constructively is that the vocals are kind of sitting on top of the track, not completely blended...

    PC Speakers as Moniters

Dam I feel moody tonight! Some have already answered your question, but here's my take. You can use any speaker, any amp, any cords. We have this idea that "studio" is some kind of shrine. We need the gear, we need the acoustic dampening. Shit, we even go againt our wifes, putting the desk in...

    Drive mix

First thing, this is amusicians forum, not karoke. Second, if you are serious, put some harmonies in there.
