    Studio Help

Oh, and although I would like to record all genres of music, primary focus would be on recording rock and acoustic. I am assuming clients would have their own instruments, but I guess amps would need to be factored into the price as well. I have a Vox Valvetronix ad120vtx, but I'm not sure if...

    Studio Help

Ok everyone, I decided today that I'm going to live my dream and open a commercial studio. This is something that's definitely not going to happen overnight...think 3-5 years. I still need the education and experience, but I just decided to at least get things in motion. I need to know what...

    8 preamp interface

I was seriously considering that unit, but I read reviews that said the pres weren't that much better, or even better at all than the firepod. The pres are the converters are what really matter to me.

Looking to trade FA101 and Mixer

I'm sorry Xander, I wish I saw your post earlier, but I sold it for 365 earlier this week. If it helps, before I sold it for 365, it sold for 315 on eBay, so I'm sure you can find a cheap one there.

    Muffled Recording But Clear Monitoring

Amazing, I was just about to post something extremely similar. My band is a rock band, and I've been starting to do all our recordings. I monitor through a pair of KRK RP5s, and the recordings sound professional through them. But when i listen through headphones, or car stereos, it doesn't...

    8 preamp interface

that's exactly how I used my FA101. I just found I never used the actual board, just the preamps. The FA101 served me very well, and I was sad when I handed it over. It was my first interface, and my first experiences w/ recording, so it had some sentimental value. And yeah, the only reason I...

    Small Commercial Studios

Spellingbee, I took a picture of that tree and thought it looked cool, so I vectorized it (traced bitmap? not sure what the terminology is), and fit it in there. thanks for looking btw. I think one day, I want to start a commercial studio. Nothign really big, but something where I don't have...

    8 preamp interface

yeah, I didn't think so. Do you know of anything that will be coming out soon, or not yet released that could rival the firepod? I kicked myself when I bouth the FA101 and the firepod came out a month later. I don't want the same thing to happen again.

    Small Commercial Studios

I'm trying to do exactly what you're trying to do: Offering a studio and graphic design servies as well. My girlfriend's a photographer (she's got a darkroom in her house, I have a recording studio at mine; we talk about the same things, only in different fields, ie. what's the best lens under...

    8 preamp interface

I'm looking for a new Firewire interface for my laptop. My old setup was a behringer UB2442fxpro connected to an edirol fa101 firewire interface. It was good b/c it allowed me to use 8 independent channels w/ preamps. However, I found I scarcely needed the 8 preamps (only when recording drums)...

2 questions actually: Truss rod and Action

Thanks for the replies. I actually think I will take it to a pro, as I don't want to risk anything. The bridge seems to be rising...there are what appears to be cracks under the finish, and the whole bridge seems like its being pulled upward, leaving a hump where the bridge is...I dont' think...

2 questions actually: Truss rod and Action

I have a few electric guitars that suffer from serious fret buzzing. I wanted to adjust the truss rod on them to eliminate the problem, but every time I hear someone mention this, they say they would rather have a professional do it. Now, before I attempt it myself, should I be that concerned...

question about how to get the best mic quality

Does n-track come with compression plugins? If so, that may be your best bet, as it's fairly inexpensive. You can get comfortable using that, and if you're serious about recording, start saving and upgrade (including your hardware).

    mshilarious (pointless)

(in Comic Book Guy voice): I believe that Bart utters a "slagg-off" to Millhouse, then proceeds to throw a liquor bottle in his direction.

Positioning a(MIDI) piano in a mix

I could be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that panning a stereo piano track creates minor phase issues... I am also wondering where you would place a piano in the mix. I'm in a band w/ a piano, distorted guitar, bass, and drums. usually i just pan the guitar left and piano right, but...

Fs: Local Music Store Clearing Out!

I'm actually on the opposite end (no, i'm not a scammer). Someone bought my interface on ebay about a week ago, sent me the money right away, but forgot to pay shipping. He wants me to ship it to Sweden, so that's $60. I've been emailing him everyday (sometimes twice a day) asking him to please...

    Frustration Recording My Vocals

This may not work for you, but here's what works great for me. I always sing right up against the pop filter, so my nose it literally touching it, as loud as I usually sing. I also compress on the way in; not too much, but just enough to prevent clipping. Then I turn my pre up til it's in the...

    Decent mic for females

Thanks for the replies...2 questions come to mind: How is the Bluebird when it comes to female vox? I heard it's a very transparent mic, which i'm not sure if that's good for female vox. Which brings me to my second question...what makes these mics more suitable for female vox than others? Do...

    sticker making

I was just wondering if there was any way to make your own vinyl stickers...not sure if there was a printer you could buy, or vinyl paper that you can print using a regular printer, etc. I want to offer a sticker making service to local clients, which is why I'm not interested in going through...

    Decent mic for females

I just opened my recording abilities to the general public, and now I have people asking me to record them singing solo...most of them female. Now, I feel bad, having them entrust me with all their creative juices and representation and what not, to just stick a SP B1 or MXLv67 in front of them...
