mmmmmmm......neve....
This could very well be the pre I've been saving up for....but need to hear it first. As soon as anyone has any experience w/ one of these, please let all of us know how you felt about it.
Rokket's got a point.
So many times I've bought defective gear for 30-50% below retail b/c I thought it was a good deal (they advertise it as clearance sale, or weekend only). Granted, I always got it fixed, or replaced, but sometimes it can be a hassle.
One of the biggest traps to get into is to keep buying gear, and hardly ever touch it. My first piece of gear was an MXLv67g + ART Tube MP pre combo @ a samash. I've been in studios before, but never really thought about having my own. The deal was too good for me (hey, a cool looking funky...
I don't know if this'll help, but for me, I turn it up to where the amp can produce the best sounds. Some amps, when recording distorted, or clean for that matter, won't sound good unless you crank it. My 57 and B1 don't get a good sound until I hit around 6 or 7 on my amp (120watt). Though, w/...
Chuck,
No, I absolutely agree with you. And I still have soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much more to learn before I can start a studio that costs x/hr. While I may be wrong in my thinking, I just wanted a piece of gear that would give me some headroom (pun not intended, but I...
I just tried another cable, no go. And another cable, still no go :( Gonna go back to the store tomorrow and see if I can't try a new pedal. I'm gonna bring my amp there, so it'll be easier. If the 2nd pedal doesn't work out, i'm gonna go next door to where I bought my amp and see what they can...
That's very tempting. Actually, extremely tempting. But I was looking for something that has dual channels, as I do a lot of stereo recording, OH, double miking my amp, etc.
I was planning on upgrading my vocal mic though...
Hey everyone, having equipment woes. I bought a Vox AD120vtx about 2 months ago from GC. Loved the amp, but just wished it came w/ a foot controller. I have a big show this Thurs, so I decided to buy the VC-4...all I needed was something to switch banks during a song. Anyways, I got a brand new...
argh, my girlfriend's cat just deleted my whole post...
anyways, the jist of it was:
Thanks guys, those posts helped out a lot. The guitar metaphor really made things clear. I still would like to upgrade my pres, however. I know it may be too soon, but I really would like to start a local...
I'm still a newb at this, but i'm always trying to learn, so here's my next question:
Why do you want a mic to have "color", and when would you want to use it?
I've heard that many people consider this color to be nothing more then hi freq distortion. Anyways, I record mostly rock. Where...
is it just merely volume? I mix in my bedroom, and can't decide if I should keep my krk rp5s or my rp8s. The rp8s are in the mail, got them at a deal i couldn't pass up, but I just don't know if i'll use them. I know I can wait to try them out, but...:
1. they won't be broken in yet
2. if I...
yeah, that's why I didn't think anyone would be interested :) I guess it only makes sense for local pickups who don't have to pay tax or shipping. If only I saw the deal a month earlier, I could have just returned these. Oh well, if anyone's in the Raleigh area and wants'em, lemme know. Thanks
I just bought the RP8s online a few seconds ago. I have the rp5s right now, and love them, but I just got a deal to buy a pair of RP8s new for $320! I'll post a review once I have a chance to break them in. Oh, and if you're interested (not spam, just thought you would be interested), I am...
Not sure if anyone would be interested in these, but these are almost brand new. Used less than 8 hours, had them for about 2 months. Not even broken in yet. Have original boxes, instruction manuals, warranty cards (warranty still valid, haven't even had the time to fill out these cards).
I...
you got a point there. I was thinking that they may also be too big for my bedroom, but if anything, I can sell them again to someone for $400 and still make an $80 profit. Thanks. I'm gonna post an ad for my krk rp5s in the classifieds.
Currently, i've been using my rp5s. They've been great, though i've had them for only a few months. But today, I just got offered to buy a pair of RP8s for $320. Brand new. But it's a one day only sorta thing. Should I go for it? Will it make that much of a difference? And if I should, anyone...
very pretty...do you think you could post a recording w/ your DMP3 just so we could compare? Also, you said you recorded w/ your 603s...the brick isn't a dual channel, right? Just doublechecking...
Ok, fair enough. Let me just tell you where I got $50/hr from.
I recorded an EP a while back @ $35/hr. It was good at the time, but to be honest, I'm happier with recordings I do at home. I've opened up my bedroom to some people, who say $10/hr is rediculously cheap. They said they would pay at...
I used to DI, but it just always sounded like a very long, musical, fart to me. I have an active bass, does that matter? Since then, i've been micing my keyboard amp with an atm25 about a foot away, pointed at the center of the cone, mixed w/ a direct.
I have the atm25, and i love it. I use it sometimes to mic bass cabs, but mostly on the kick. I just stick it in there, point it at the beater, and I get a great sound everytime. Don't have to spend a lot of time looking for that "sweet spot". Don't have experience w/ the d2, so I can't comment...
