I Wah Wah Wah Wah Wonder...

I modded my Budda (which was already true bypass) to put a LED in it - I used a UV purplish blinding LED which looks cool because the pedal is purple itself. Like an idiot, I put it on the back of the pedal (below where your heel goes) with a collar around it, and I can't see it at all when I...

    Amplitube and Garageband Users

I don't know much about amplitube. I don't really like the sims in logic or garage band but they can work for some clean stuff. My current way-out-in-front favorite is Scuffham S-Gear. Favorite is not the right word because I really don't like sims. I was surprised in a good way by Waves GTR3.

    pedal advice - LFO

OK - I confess, I didn't watch the whole thing, but I'm aware that if you're using a 10 foot cable straight in, you have a certain amount of capacitance (which tends to cut high frequency) and if you go to a 20 foot cable, you have more capacitance, and so you loose some high frequency. Because...

do any of you play pedal steel?

Yeah, all I have is a lap steel too - a fine 1950's Supro student model 2x4 (which actually sounds fantastic). I'm not very good, unfortunately -- I bet beezelbubba is a better bet. But I'm tellin' ya - some time in the 2030's, I'm all over that stuff.

    I Do with BroKen_H - V2

Really like the bg vocals in the chorus. The kick sounds fine on my systems. I agree about the bass being too low and the cymbals being fizzy/hissy. I like the piano, but I think it could come down about 1.5 dB in the verse because it's a little distracting. I have the urge to try to knock...

    Pacifica by a designs

Tommy - we're honored to have the leading A-Designs evangelist stop by! I don't have a Pacifica, and I probably won't get one because I'm happy with my preamps. But I have been using a Hammer for about a year, and I just got a Nail, both are on my 2buss. They're friggn' incredible, really. I...

    NMD - Manley Ref C (x2)

I'm thinking of the new mic "day" as really this weekend, but I got a pair of Manley Reference Cardioid mics and I've been messing around with them. I can't sing, so I have to rely on my singing friends, but a couple have stopped by. Good on acoustic, but they don't seem materially better...

    pedal advice - LFO

Wow - I've never heard of the Gonkulator. It doesn't look like it's true bypass, but at least it's a lot smaller than the fooger. Since I posted, I have moved the Mooger Fooger off my board, freeing up room for like 4 pedals, but I haven't used it all yet. I plugged the fooger through a...

do any of you play pedal steel?

I feel that is is my destiny to play pedal steel. But I don't do it yet. You're probably in a hurry, but if you can wait about 20 years, I'm your guy.

I Wah Wah Wah Wah Wonder...

I used a Budda wah mostly, and sometimes a parapedal, which isn't really a wah, I guess. Love them both

    The New Tone Thread

but do you want to be able to use the 16 ohm output of your amp through the attenuator into the 4 ohm cab? My mini mass is completely silent about how many ohms it's presenting.

    Budget Compressor

Yeah - I suppose I'm lucky it works at all and really lucky it works well. I need to stop posting in this thread because I really don't have any helpful advice except not to get the 3630. I have a Symetrix 525 that was like $40 and sounds OK but it's old and brittle and the pots are breaking...

    Budget Compressor

Just picked up this bad boy I'm not recommending it but it does sound good on snare on a song I'm working on and it was cheaper than a lot of plugins

    Budget Compressor

Have you compared it to the Elysia compressor plugins (mpressor and alpha - is there such thing as an xpressor plugin?)?

    U67 Alternatives?

The 67 is above my pay grade. I recently got an 87 but I haven't tried it on female vox yet - so far it has worked well on two male vocalists and not as well on a third. I used a Blue Kiwi on a somewhat shrill female voice for background vocals recently and that was a mistake (the Kiwi sounds...

    Up to $500 vocal mic

If you're an aggressive, strong singer, the SM7B might be just right. It's a talk radio mic and it's designed to make a shouty/spitty announcer or shock jock listenable. I am a non singer and I feel like I'm fighting the SM7B and losing when I try to use it for me for vocals. On the dynamic...

Great River Me Amp and Blue ribbon mic Vs my present sound

Yeah for now I would focus on the mic - your recording has some sizzle that kind of hurts my ears and I think that could be improved with a better mic. I know nothing about rap but I agree a good dynamic mic would likely do the trick. If you have to replace the pre because it's broken...

Best microphone for recording my saxophone

For brass and including sax I usually use the Sennheiser MD441 - two of them in X-Y are really good for a small brass section from about 15 feet in front

Good small diaphragm condenser mic for strings?

I do not often record strings, but when I do I have been using a pair of Neumann KM184 (and/or large diaphragm AKG C414B-ULS) I have liked the results.

    Budget Compressor

The one that comes with Logic is good. For third party, I would look at Klanghelm DC8C or U-he Presswerk and I like Stillwell Rocket
