    again- guitar recording help

For me, I find my sweet spot is about 4" off the grill, aimed about where they have shown there in the pic. Everytime I record guitar, I do the same thing. I get the amp sounding exactly how I want to record it. Then I play the main riff into my looper pedal. Then I let the riff rock out on...

    Is this metal sound good?

As in clarity. The second clip is better than the first, but still could use a little more. I'm not a fan of "exciting" per say, but yea I think you get the message. Reminds me of a loud concert with ear plugs in. (ok, thats an exageration, but I'm just trying to make a point. :) )

Work In Progress - Anybody wanna listen?

Nice song. I think over all I'd be pretty happy with it. If you're looking for some nit picks, I lemme listen to it again. Seems a little on the middy side. Maybe pull a little low end out of the guitars, this might make more room for the vox. I think they are loud enough, but just need a...

    Following Light (progressive rock)

Excellent song. Is this an original song? IMO the mix is a little dense making it hard to hear everything. The riffs and leads are kick ass but it just sounds like things are a little too compressed maybe? Great Bonham sounding drums!

    Please Bash this Mix

Great groove!!! I love the licks and fills. The vox don't seem to sit very well. I like them, I just think they need sit a little better. Maybe some overall automation? I dunno, I suck a mixing vocals though. Great tune, I liked it alot. Fun to shake my ass to.

    Distortion pedals

+1, its a nice all around pedal. Even the stock DS-1 is a good (cheap) pedal. For pricier, I'd go with an Emma Reezafratzitz. I've gone through piles of pedals for distortion and this is my goto pedal for Foo Fighters-ish crunch. (as a backup, I usually use my tube amp distortion.) For Fuzz...

How are the Avatar cabs for recording?

I've recorded mine several times and it seems pretty easy to find the sweet spot with the mic. Although I can't prove that its the cab. :D I'm running a 2x12 open back with 2 tonespotters. Here's a recent cover I collaberated on with zed. Rain Recorded with a 57 about 6" away .. but of...

    give it to me straight...

Hey Nicole, you can't worry about other musicians, most of them are flakey. Most of them will say they'll be there, they're dependable etc but aren't. Don't take it personally. Now, that said, if you can manage to inspire someone to want to play with you, that's the trick. Creating music that...
