Please help me understand the routing of the group section on my Topaz.....please

So......what you are telling me is that the fx arrive to the group before the inserts? Therefore you will be compressing the actual reverb in addition to the source signal? Or......you'd be adding reverb to the delay tails on the guitar instead of just the source signal?

Won't be in front of me for a few hours....unfortunately.

Please help me understand the routing of the group section on my Topaz.....please

That was exactly the application I had in mind but how is the mix between wet and dry signal dealt with? What happens to the master fx level and pan? Does that now solely control the send to the group? Are other tracks that were going direct to L/R with the fx now cut off? I'm about to...

Please help me understand the routing of the group section on my Topaz.....please

Don't get me wrong y'all, I know the board pretty well at this point but I've never understood the 'fx 1 return can be sent to groups 1&2 with the push of a button'. What am I missing? There are no controls for it. Just send to the group? What would be a practical application for this...

Tascam DA-88 Inputs. Unbalanced vs Balanced

I love my DA-88s. I have 3 running and 3 waiting in the wings. I also have the benefit of having a great place to have them cleaned or serviced if necessary. However, you are correct. I'll just buy 2 or 3 more this year and next. I also take Hi-8 tape donations................never...

Tascam DA-88 Inputs. Unbalanced vs Balanced

I'd love to get the Aux done. I have 4 Post Fader Aux sends, but they are on 2 channels. A 3rd would be super handy. You have to understand, I live in the stone ages compared to most guys around here it seems. Analog board, physical rack gear, and DA-88s.

Tascam DA-88 Inputs. Unbalanced vs Balanced

I was going to do all the -10 to +4 on all the sections possible, and make AUX1 a post fade send.

Tascam DA-88 Inputs. Unbalanced vs Balanced

I was asking if it's worth the cost and will it improve sound quality enough to bother getting 1/4 to RCA snakes?........

Tascam DA-88 Inputs. Unbalanced vs Balanced

My Topaz has unbal 1/4" outs, at -10 until I can get it modded..........

    Real Drums

Oh yeah. Brought the whole thing to life. Time for some fills. I'm at the same exact stage on my song. It's here in the forum (I think this one) as the electronic drums conundrum. In fact, I just had my Gas Co buddy install a Mr. Heater in the studio so I could be toasty..... Looking...

Tascam DA-88 Inputs. Unbalanced vs Balanced

I have a board with unbalanced tape outs that I send to DA-88s. I use a D-sub snake to send signals. The D-Sub is a balanced input. There are also RCA inputs on the 88s which I'm guessing are unbalanced. Would I be better off going into the RCAs and skipping a conversion process...

    Budget monitors for metal

I do stuff that's what I call 'Progressive Blues Metal' (like if Kenny W Shepherd was jamming with Iron Maiden or Deep Purple) that works the monitors pretty hard if that's what you're concern is. Event TR-8s. Scrape up some extra bucks and move up the chain a bit. Not that mine are great...

Anyone in the Long Island/NYC/Southern New England area to hire for MOD To Topaz???

I know this is a long-shot, but it's worth a try. I'd love to upgrade my ol' Sountracs Topaz 24 before I get deep into much mixing in the next few months. Specifically the -10/+4 upgrade and I'd love to make AUX1 a post fade send. ANYONE?? I pay cash. I will deliver and pick-up. LI, CT...

Seating and processing of harmony and gang vocals behind main during chorus parts....

Of course. I'm thinking M2000 Engine 1 on Aux 3/5 2 on Aux 4/6 with Lex MX400 Engines as the alternate choices on the switch buttons. NOW.....Should I bring the M2000 back to FX channels in the master section, or as 2 tracks on the board...

Seating and processing of harmony and gang vocals behind main during chorus parts....

Well, I just pulled the trigger an a TC M2000 and a TC D-2. Both are upgrades for me. So..............now I have work to do. I basically will have these 2 units plus a Lex MX400 and a TC M300 for my mixes. I have 2 pre-fade Aux sends, and 2 switchable post Aux sends (3/5) and (4/6). Time...

Lexicon PCM90 or TC M2000 for rock vocals?

PLEASE DELETE. Grabbed a TC M2000 for a very fair price.

Lexicon PCM90 or TC M2000 for rock vocals?

I have a chance to pick up either of these today for basically the same price. Both will be un upgrade for me, but I haven't used either. Is there a prevailing opinion on whether or not one of these is better for male rock vocals? Essentially, I'm looking to get myself a dedicated vocal...

Seating and processing of harmony and gang vocals behind main during chorus parts....

Yes, that's what I'm looking for......a smoother, rounded gang vocal that isn't reverbed into outerspace. Thanks for the starting point. I'll be back at it in a few hours.

Seating and processing of harmony and gang vocals behind main during chorus parts....

I actually have gang vocals on 3 different tracks, so there is some flexibility there. I will work with the compressor on them and see what I get. I'm thinking slow on the attack and release to keep them from pumping at all......any ideas as to comp ratio and threshold settings for this kind...

Seating and processing of harmony and gang vocals behind main during chorus parts....

How does everyone approach this subject? I have a song that a couple members have been discussing with me before I do a complete re-mix and this is an area I feel I could improve. In the chorus there is the main vocal, a harmony vocal, and a gang vocal on a 3rd track. I'd like to get that...
