weird effect blew up my amp??

Disclaimer: I am not a complete idiot, despite what my actions might say about me. So, I have had this Behringer KX1200 keyboard amp/PA thing for about 9 months, and it's worked pretty nicely. Until yesterday. Yesterday I received this kind of rinky-dink Realistic stereo reverb system (radio...

    new mic, help

I'd definitely look into to dampening the drum noise - It sounds like you are not recording multiple instruments at the same time? Just one track at a time? Like I said (I'm just in the beginning of my recording knowledge myself) I don't think that you should limit your options just because...

    Spring reverb ???

Here's that article on building your own plate reverb... http://www.prosoundweb.com/recording/tapeop/plate/plate.php Dunno if I really want an 8 foot wide steel sheet hanging around in my house though.

    new mic, help

I wouldn't give up on condensers - I really like the 319, it sounds nice in a good room, but it does pick up alot of extra noise that dynamics don't pick up... that can be a blessing and a curse. I wouldn't let your room dictate your recording practices, it should be the recording practices...

    mouth noise

aww man... but a ski mask looks alot more bad-ass than a breathe right strip. If this smacking noise is caused by too much spit, have your vocalist drink some black tea before singing. This helps with drying out the mouth, it supposedly works for woodwind players that have too much spit - I...

    mouth noise

Hey, at least her nose doesn't whistle when she's breathing. I don't even do vocals, but when I record piano the mics pick up my nose whistling, and it's really annoying. I might have to wear a ski mask next time I record... :)

    sm58 and phantom power

So, I just got a Shure SM58, and it functions without phantom power... which is really nice... However, I was wondering what would happen if I wanted to use the SM58 in conjunction with a condenser microphone that used phantom power... What happens if phantom power is turned on when the SM58...

    1/4" input mic options?

Hi, I'm kinda sorta looking at getting a Tascam 106 mixer, which only has 1/4" inputs... and no phantom power I was wondering what are my options for running mics through it: What (quality) mics have 1/4" outputs and don't require phantom power? Dynamics, etc?? Do most outboard mic preamps...

    Dirty drums sound

I was on another bulletin board... Futureproducers.com... and they suggested that you resample your drums in 8bits instead of 16bits like most audio is in today. That would give them a little bit crunchier sound, make them sound dirtier. You can do this in alot of Sound editing programs... like...
