Investiment recomendations to enhance drum recording

Ohh try flipping the phase on one of your overheads. Or even better, move the mics further apart. The actual drums don't sound all that bad.

Investiment recomendations to enhance drum recording

I have no clue why you can't upload stuff... Did you try using a website like Megaupload or Dropbox?

Investiment recomendations to enhance drum recording

You would get SOOO much more help if you posted a sound sample. You could get even more help by posting the individual tracks to mix. You would be surprised at the mixing talents here. Of course, mixing is not going to solve all of your problems. Placement, tuning, room sound, and playing will.

    death ray

Wow, great song! Very catchy. I think I like the drum machine in this better than your other loops. Now for the mix. The drums do seem a bit loud. The looping of them does not bother me though. The bass can come up some. An idea just hit me... In the second verse it would be cool to add...

Right! I should post this song I've been sitting on for a week.

I always have so much trouble deciding what to say for your songs. I'm never sure if you are a case of "I was going for that sound," or "Help me make this sound professional." You are a great writer though. From what I can tell, follow everyone's advice about fixing the snare. The kick...

"Falling Right In" - New Drums - How's The Mix Compare?

The new drum sound would be perfect for me if there was more room/overheads. The snare seems like it can use a bit more compression too. Other than that, I am satisfied. :D

really need help on this one :/

Guitars need a lo-cut and mid boost. The bass is farty sounding. I found that a low mid frequency distortion works well with this type of music. The singer/screamer/hard-core-speaker is not good. Ehh I guess you can't do anything about performance. The snare is a bit ringy... It's not a...

    Another Day Another Spring

Interesting sound. I'm not really into synthy sounding stuff, but this is listenable... Happy Easter!

    What Genre is This?

Ahh it's one of those damn M3U files! D'oh!

    Live Show Recording Outside

Not bad. The vocals are a bit loud and I can't hear the kick at all. The whole mix seems to be kind of tinny sounding. EQ some of those highs out. Otherwise, as I said, not bat at all.

JoeyM / PoeticIntensity Collab - Out Of The Rain

Very very good! I like collabs on these forums. It produces some interesting textures and whatnot. I can tell it was mixed by you. :D Drums are out front and the vocals are pushed back more. Not bad, just different from Joey's style. I think the drums can come down a little actually. The...

GregL's guide to recording rock drums. It's in the Drums & Perc. forum here. Go with what those guys said too ^^^^^^^^^^

White Trash - new Greg_L retardedness

Just listened to it again. The drums still seem to be a bit far back. It's hard to explain. It sounds like it has a desire to pop, but it's getting pushed back.

    Good bass amp for recording?

I mentioned this in my last few posts, but try the TSE Bass Overdrive plugin. It simulates the Sansamp. That can just be a temporary thing though.

    Micing a full kit

+1 on Greg's guide. The room sound in metal drums plays a HUGE part. Metal drums aren't usually roomy sounding per-se, but they sound big. Make sure you have some sort of treatment. Other than that just mess around with mic placement and stuff. Samples are used a lot of the time in modern...

    First attempt at mastering

He is most definitely right, and Greg is most definitely not attacking you. The mix should be taken care of before the mastering. As for my opinion, it basically sounds more harsh in the highs and louder. It made the song sonically annoying. I'm not sure if you mixed it, or if you even have...

    Protest Funk?

No problem. :D And yes it does. It doesn't just flip the phase for you, it lets you adjust the actual "position" of the track. It gives you a left and right slider thingy. You adjust those two points until they are in phase. It gives more flexibility than the polarity button. The reason...

    Protest Funk?

I'm not sure if you've ever seen it, but BetaBugs Audio offers a 360 degree phase adjuster. It's REALLY helpful with drums. BetabugsAudio :::plug-in development turned inside out::: (all the way at the bottom) :p face not intended... :D
