    RWRP middle pickup question

I can't find a standard for numbering the positions. Some say bridge is 1, and others say neck is 1. Mine sounds of out phase when it's in the neck/middle position. The bridge/middle position sounds fine.

    RWRP middle pickup question

The out-of-phase sound you're hearing (the fourth phrase on my recording) is not involving the Little 59 at all. It's the middle/neck position, which are both single coils (the middle being RWRP). Are you saying that the Little 59 could still be causing the issue somehow?

    RWRP middle pickup question

Thanks. Yep, that's exactly what I've done. I've attached a recording here that moves through the positions from bridge to neck one at a time. The fourth one is what I'm talking about. I don't know about y'all, but I've never heard an in-between position sound so comparatively weak and thin.

    RWRP middle pickup question

@ashcat_lt @TalismanRich @Old Music Guy Thanks for the comments, y'all. I checked SD's site for wiring diagrams, and the closest one I could find is the standard 3 single coil, 5-way switch wiring. I couldn't find any wiring diagrams that mentioned anything about RWRP pickups. I'm 100% sure...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Yes, I agree it sounds bad. I have an SG with the Peter Green wiring, so it's out of phase in the middle position, but only if the bridge and neck volume are set the same. If I change one of the volumes a little bit, the middle position sounds full and in-phase again. So it's a very nice setup...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Hey y'all, I have a Strat and just replaced the stock pickups with the following pickups: Bridge: Seymour Duncan Little 59 (single coil-sized humbucker) Middle: Seymour Duncan RWRP Vintage pickup Neck: Seymour Duncan All positions sound great except for the neck/middle position, which sounds...

    Feedback on New Song/Mix

Nice one! I would second the notion that a few of the vocal lines could be performed a bit better. The one that sticks out to me the most is "Then there were our college days." Sounds as though a few of those notes are riding a bit flat there. The minor iv chord is a nice touch in those few...

Thoughts on vocal tuning/heavy editing and an interesting analogy (I think)

Absolutely! And I would add that one gig is worth many rehearsals/practice sessions. You'll learn more in that 45 minutes (or several hours) about what's really working and what's not than in five or six rehearsals, IMHO.

Thoughts on vocal tuning/heavy editing and an interesting analogy (I think)

That was a fascinating read, thanks! I don't know much about biking (aside from a little bit because my dad got into it a while ago), so it was great to learn so much about all that's involved. That's certainly a bright side to the money-chasing aspect in that case. I must say that it's harder...

Yes, that was me! I wanted to spread my diatribe as far as I could. 🤣

    Excellent summary, sir. 🙂

Thoughts on vocal tuning/heavy editing and an interesting analogy (I think)

Thanks for your thoughts. I don't know ... I still think there's a fundamental difference between EQ/verb/etc. and Melodyne. Think about it this way. If you have a singer that has terrible pitch and EQ it to have the perfect amount of body and give it a nice reverb, you're still gonna have a...

Thoughts on vocal tuning/heavy editing and an interesting analogy (I think)

Hey everyone, I wanted to share some thoughts on this subject and present an analogy to help illustrate my point. What's my point? I think tuning vocals and/or heavily editing vocals and other instruments is doing us all a great disservice as musicians overall. If we get used to just getting...

Would you pay $60 to watch Grammy "nominee" Marc Daniel Nelson mix a full song in real time?

Exactly. 😉 Those YT channels are usually pretty full-time jobs, especially at their level.

    high Octane Guitar Instrumental; "Silverstone"

Nice playing! First impression is that it sounds overall a bit dry for this style. Also, the transition at 2:58 sounded fairly abrupt. Sounds as though the downbeat was maybe a bit late or something there? Or maybe the drum fill leading into it is rushed. Something sounds not smooth there...

Mykonos (Fleet Foxes cover) - Folk Rock

Thanks much for the listen and comments. This is not an original; it's a cover of a Fleet Foxes song. The acoustic is actually panned a bit left, but not too severely - maybe about 40% L.

Mykonos (Fleet Foxes cover) - Folk Rock

Damn ... I've had all kinds of issues with this. It'll seem fine, and then all of the sudden, I'll notice a timing issue. 😐 Thanks for pointing it out!

Thanks for the feedback! You're right about the panning of the mando and fiddle - I didn't even think of that! I didn't notice any phase issues. I did try flipping the polarity both ways, but the difference was pretty negligible.
