condenser mic preamps for Roland VS

Hmm...sounds like you must have the older version of the VS880,that's the one with 4 analog ins plus optical/coaxial S/PDIF. You did post that you had an 880EX,and what I answered stands...for the EX,which has 6 analog inputs plus S/PDIF.

condenser mic preamps for Roland VS

The VS880EX can record all 8 of its tracks simultaneously, however 2 of them will have to be fed from one of the S/PDIF inputs. If,however, you work mostly one or two tracks at a time,I'd suggest a good quality mic preamp coupled with an A/D converter which will get you past what this reporter...

    Vsr-880

    I've had my VSR880 since February.For the record,the one I have still records all 8 tracks in 24 bit mode,as well as in linear 16 bit MAS mode.It has 3 sample rates,32,44.1,and 48 khz,although I only use 44.1 so I can use it via R-bus with my VM3100 Pro. It's a good little machine,and a good...

Labor Day Steals at Guitar Center

I;ve also done well at some of GC's "list" sales: last January I got a new Warwick FNA 5 string for $802 and a new in box Roland VSR880 for $599 (at the time they were $1299 everywhere else including GC.) On Memorial Day I got a new Eden WT300 for $299,and last Monday I scored a new Yamaha TRB 5...

    Help me choose a SansAmp!!!

I have both the Bass Driver DI and the ART Tube PAC.They are both good, solid, useful devices for bass guitar.I've played on the Bass Pod Pro a few times and think it has merit as well, but personally there's not enough of what it offers that I'd actually use to justify the purchase. YMMV

    Epiphone dot 335 knockoff $320.00

I would also suggest you try the Hamer Echotone before deciding. It's a lotta guitar for the money.I;ve had mine since January.

    A mulitpurpose bass

Even though I also own an Ibanez (SR885) I'd go with the Yammie 'cause it's well made and sounds good. Only other suggestion would be to try to find a used active model like the 460 or even the 560.Not necessary for fingerstyle but nice to have for slap.

deciding. new boss br-8, br-532 or used roland vs-880

One thing I'd think long and hard about is backup: once you start rolling with the BR-8 you're gonna spend a lot on Zip discs unless you don't care about keeping your stuff and just erase over it.

    Roland VSR880

Yeah,I saw that on their site as well.I got my VSR880 back in January for $599 and everyone was like," where did you find that price? " (GC blowout.) Anyway, the thing is good,it has 24 bit converters like the 890 (880EX has 20 bit.) It also has more individual in/outputs and a 24 bit recording...

    2 guitars or 1

I agree that if you're gonna have 2 guitars, one should have the Gibson sound and the other the Fender (single coil) sound. 2 amps would be nice as well.

    Warwick basses...they good?

I have 2 Warwicks, both 5 strings.I've played the Streamer Standard and I think it a good instrument, but in your shoes I'd go looking for one of their active models on the used market because they are better and more versatile. You should be able to find a used Corvette for around the same money...

    VS880ex

MAS mode There's just one tiny detail....if you recorded your tracks in MAS mode, you can't use tracks 7&8, 'cause the VS880EX is a six track machine in MAS mode.If this is the case, all is not lost, you can send your tracks 1-6 out to a CD burner or DAT via S/PDIF and bring the 2 mix back into...

Line6 POD - Is it worth it ?

I've tried the Pod and the Bass Pod Pro,and I think they are pretty nice, but for a good bang for buck ratio, try the Digitech RP200. I got mine for $130 and it has more FX than the Pod,plus it has the assignable expression pedal which makes the unit very giggable.

Anyone using an Aphex Aural Exciter?

THIS IS JUST ONE MAN'S OPINION Personally,I prefer the BBE Sonic Maximizers, especially for bass instruments.

    vsr 880 feedback

For the money and for live use I think the VSR880 is currently your best bet.I say this because it has all those RCA inputs on the back which a lot of HD machines lack so you can keep each track separate until mixdown.ADATS have these too but they cost much more and HD recording is much more...

    Sony vs. Tascam

I have the Tascam CDRW700 and am happy with it.It sounds very good and has been reliable. I don't really see why you want both a DAT and a CDR.If you want to use the DAT for data storage, there are faster (Roland's own CD burner) and cheaper (Castlewood ORB drive) alternatives.I've heard from a...

    SCMS turn-off??

As far as I know, the SCMS cannot be turned off on any of the "consumer" machines which includes all the Phillips and the Pioneers as well.SCMS stands for Serial Copy Management System, and it prevents more than one digital copy being made from a digital source. The issue of the consumer discs is...

ADVICE: keyboard controller/synth/sound module, etc for $3k

Not sure if you'll like it,but GC has been blowing out their stock of Kurzweil 2500 keyboard/workstations for $1999 from a list of $6000.Me,I have a modest setup with pieces from Alesis,Korg, and Roland 'cause they each have a few jewels and a few turds.

    Boss DR-770 Drum Machine

For the footswitch cable, here's one possibility: I bought 2 Roland DP-2 footswitches and cut the jacks off, then soldered both cables to a TRS jack, one cable to each side with the shields together. It works fine. For the programming,I can't help you 'cause I do all my patterns on a sequencer and...
