i've used the NTK as a mono overhead on drums. i like it because it's simple, but does anyone have any suggestions for a pair of LD overheads, or even just one that you really like? for some reason i think i like the sound of the LD instead of the SD on the overheads.

$500 just for the sound card, or do you already have the 4 mics?

i thought i snuck into an underground cure show from the late 70's. i got a little bored with the same groove the whole time. also, the bass drum was bassy, but could use some more punch and attack.

great recording! i agree that the vocals should be boosted a bit. but i can understand the lyrics (and i too speak a few languages). strings sound cool. try a different reverb for the vocals.

it's just my personal taste, but i like not having the visuals when mixing, that way i can use just my ears.

what about running a rack eq through an effects loop? if you have a two channel amp you then have a four channel amp, 2 clean, and 2 of the other. i haven't tried it yet, but i plan to later today.

overall good mix. i dig the 70's sounding organs in some parts. the vocals and guitars could benefit from some better reverb. the vocals are a bit too up front, and the guitars seem to be the opposite. i like your arrangement, and the stereo mix sounds nice.

i like the previous suggestions. you might also want to try making two copies of the vocal track. put good amount of reverb on one and drop the volume on it. but, if the dry vocals don't pop out, reverb won't help much. eq, mic techniques, and remixing the whole song may also be options...

i have and love the NTK. but, don't overlook the groove tubes gt66. it sounds really nice. i use both for acoustic guitars and vocals and room mics (drums and electric guitars), and a couple times for violins.
