    drums & synth in Sonar

Mike, There are a number of ways to get drums in and out of Sonar... Depending on your keyboard, there is probably a instrument definition file already created. You can simply setup to record a midi track, setup your drum patch on your keyboard and go to town with your drums! The help files...

    Patchbay setup for mic'd inputs

Thanks for the advice. I went straight to the Mackie site. Thanks. When I get done moving I will hopefully be able to work something out. That's a really good question. After swimming in a sea of cables I can't figure out why I have a patchbay in use right now... I might be removing it...

    Patchbay setup for mic'd inputs

Here's my setup... The outputs of my keyboard (QS6.1) and drum module (DM5) go into a patchbay then from the patchbay everything is routed to the mixer (Behringer MX802a). There is also a Virtualizer Pro in my setup with appearances on the patchbay for all its ins/outs. Up until now...

PENTIUM 4 or AMD ATHLON XP?

I guess if all things were equal I would prefer the least expensive chip, which, would be the AMD chip. (Which is what I chose, incidentally.) Your soundcard and motherboard chipset and the correct drivers are things I would consider. On soundcard recommendations, check here to get you...

An alternative to Vienna... You can use it with LiveSynth as well. Alive. You should be able to use it with your terratec soundcard. Check it out... Vice

    Stereo Panning Problem with Sonar

On my mixer, the pan pots are set to hard right on one channel and hard left on the other. Then I would do everything else as Dachay suggested... I don't know if you are leaving the pan pots center or not. My mixer also has channels 5/6 and 7/8 as stereo channels. If I am using either of...

    Best Soundcards for the $$$

    quick question

That, my friend, is from the manual. If you don't have the aforementioned cables your local music store should have them... The ends of those cables should go into your soundcard's input jack. You might need an adapter if you are going into a 1/8" jack... Good Luck, Vice

    Soundfont maniacs! Look here!

Moskus, the program I am referring to Alive is what I think you are looking for. It's compatible with Livesynth. It allows you to audition your soundfonts... If this is not, please explain to me what I'm not understanding... I could be confused :p Vice

    Soundfont maniacs! Look here!

Ok, here is my exchange with SoundFaction... Original Email: Your requirements state: Requirements... Alternatively use a soft-synth from LiveUpdate <http://www.liveupdate.com/> for Cakewalk SONAR Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2k/XP Does this mean that I can use a different soundcard, say, a Delta...

If you need a more info on hooking up to a patchbay I consulted Behringer for the answer. Look at the manual. It's pretty good and it helped me out...

    Soundfont maniacs! Look here!

Yeah, I know, that's why I emailed the company. The requirements made it sound that you didn't need the SB-card. At least that's how I read it. It won't be the first time I have been wrong and it won't be the last, I'm sure... Vice

    Mono or stereo recording ?

That is an interesting question. If you are using a patch with stereo settings built into the patch, I'm not really sure. When I record something that I know is stereo, my pan pots are hard left and hard right on my mixer channels. I will test when I get my equipment set back up... Vice

    Sound card specs

Thanks guys for your response. Soundcard A was the Audigy 2 (you are good, Slack - I guess that's your the master! :D ) and Soundcard B was Audiophile 2496. I was just trying to see if there was something that would clue me in as to why I even bother to read the specs sometimes. I'm actually...
