Country? Folky? Cheesy? Crappy? "We Got a Love" an old new original

http://soundcloud.com/bjsmusic/we-got-a-love All four you say! I've been sitting on this one for over a year - Perhaps I should have kept sitting! :o;) It's very simple, very cheesy and a little sloppy. :) Here's a remix with swingin drums by PI aka Jason...

    Shock Me

Thanks a bunch Ray - I'll take 'spirited' as a hell of a complement! I don't think there's a Kiss album from the 70's that I don't like! Aww, hell, I even like Dynasty and tried really hard to like The Elder back in the day!

    Shock Me

http://soundcloud.com/bjsmusic/shock-me-062411 Alright, this may bit a bit indulgent of us to carry on so about 1 bass note... but here goes anyway and perhaps it will be helpful to anyone who has yet to deal with this problem. I reset the bass eq on this mix. I had most of the low end rolled...

    Reflections

:D Whoa! Symphonic comes to mind and you didn't even use anything but guitars from what I can tell, except the intro. I like the intro - I got a total vision of a show opener or first cut/title track of the album. Please don't change it. Well you can always have a radio edit version. :cool...

    Shock Me

You guys are right- it's just a matter of me being afraid to cut too deep with the eq knife. I just need to be more precise with a freq analyzer and the Q setting to make sure im targeting only the offensive freq - then tame it hard. Do you guys think its just a cheap bass guitar problem? Do...

Thanks for the detailed analysis man. You've nailed my bass struggle. I've tried to eq it out, but it starts to loose the oomph on the other notes. I have not tried additional compression other than the tube compressor from the amp - I'm gonna give it a shot! :D:cool:

    No problem man. :D

Thanks Greg! I guess I'll take 'pretty rough' over :eek::eek: any day. :) There's only one dude I know who could pull off this song on the drums - in fact, I think it's the only Ace/Kiss tune he hasn't recorded. Sadly though, I don't think I 'blew his skirt up' enough with my rendition to...

Thanks for the 'atta boy' on the solo. I'd like to say it was cake because I'm that good :laughings:, but it took at least a week of learning and practice before I even attempted recording it. It was a personal quest for me to get this right, or at least close. Now, regarding you 'not taking...

Live Your Dreams - PoeticIntensity Original

I love the ending by the way! :D On the 4 "&" or something ...pretty cool. I forgot to mention that your vocal range is shown off well here ...I'm freakin' jealous! :) Oh, and some tasty tom grooves too! :D:cool:

Wow, thanks Jason and Joe - yea, I totally agree about the back-ups! I had them louder and was loving it because they sound freakin' awesome and it tended to take the focus off my caterwaling - but then I thought I'd be accused of trying to hide behind the backups, so I dropped them again...

    Wicked game

I thought it was pretty good. The instrumentation seemed spot on the original and captured that haunting chamber sound, except the vocals were not in the chamber if you know what I mean. I may have to go back to the original, but I thought the vocals were wetter. Anyway, It sounded good...

Salvation For 1000 Whores (Death metal)

Wow, very brutal! I am most impressed with the definition achieved in the guitars- Those speed-harmonies are killer! I can't say that I have one piece of music in my collection that resembles this genre, but it sounds pretty good to me. :D:cool:

(Cover) 2nd attempt - I reworked the vocals a little to fit my range and messed with the drums sounds too. Back-up vocals courtesy of Dave DeWhitt and Joe Mizzi - though they may wish to have their good names removed after hearing this. Oh well, I had fun messing with this. Shred as needed...

Live Your Dreams - PoeticIntensity Original

Hey, another spankin' tune here Jason! I'm a little late to throw my hat in the ring this time for the guitar solo it would seem. Some pretty decent licks in there already. Ditto on the various tone comments, but still, some tasty licks in there. 'Twas a great listen - no nits that haven't...

    Superhero (remix)

rayC - Thanks for the listen. I think I've got the vocals tamed, although I don't think I'll re post it. Lol @ Breakfast Club - Do you remember my cover of Don't You Forget About Me? You picked up on the exact flavor of my 80's cheese! :D THEMUSICJUNKY - Thanks man - Yea, I've gotta work on...

    Superhero (remix)

Thanks Pete. I put some more automation on those vox to control the ear poking dbs and backed the delay down a smidge. I wish I could hear the timing issue that everybody else seems to hear - it scares me  I appreciate your ears :D

Flanger on the backups? Hmm. Perhaps you mean the lead vocal on the pre-chorus? It has effect on it. But if you really mean the backups, then you might be hearing some phasing due to about 8 or 9 tracks, bounced to two tracks, which might be stacked/panned too close. Yup, you got...

Thanks Joe! I've been working on it :) ...but don't think this gets you off the hook for my next hard rock/metal masterpiece :D Consider vocals 'sunk' - I'm on it
