Here's the error message. This happens when I press the FX button on any track. The progress bar makes it about half way then I get the Windows "Please tell Microsoft about this problem" message.
Thanks,
D
Isn't mastering just brickwall limiting??? I mean, how hard can that be??:eek::facepalm::eek:

(I'm just kidding guys)
I'm talking about the guitar/amp distortion. You know...what sounds good live is usually too much in a recording.
The best thing I've found so far is bringing the low-mids down a few db. I've tried adding a little reverb, but I haven't been too happy with the results.
What's your budget?
It sounds like you would do good to get a multitrack recorder like the Zoom R16 or Tascam DP-008. You'll need at least 3 tracks of simultaneous recording.
I found the option in Reaper to set the VST folder, but I didn't set it. Well, actually I did set it the first time, but after I uninstalled Reaper and reinstalled it I haven't specified the vst folder.
I do remember when Reaper scanned the folder that there were some VST's that it said were...
It might be trying to use Cubase effects. I have all of my vst's in a vst folder, but I haven't specified to Reaper which folder contains the vst's. But, it does look like it's scanning whenever I press the fx button on a track. Does Reaper scan the HDD for effects?
I'll check it this...
Ok. I'm a Cubase user, but I saw a friend of mine using Reaper and downloaded the latest version.
The problem is that when I hit the effects button on a track I get an error message and Reaper shuts down. It starts trying to load my VST's but then crashes.
I uninstalled it, then reinstalled...
The track was recorded at a live show. How would I tame the distortion in the recording? I pulled down the mids a little, but too much and it starts sounding really thin.
What's your method?
Thanks,
D
Presonus Audiobox $150
Presonus products are rock solid. I've owned 4 and I've loved everyone of them.
GLS ES57 $40
This is an awesome SM57 knock-off. I've got 3 of them and a Shure SM57. They hold their own.
M-Audio Oxygen 49 or similar $160
I've never used this midi keyboard or any...
#1. I don't see any kind of interface and the ecause you list a daw I'm assuming your recording digital.
#2. The weak link in that chain is you mics. Your spending a lot of money, but those are fairly cheap mics.
If you're going into it as a business I suggest doing a lot of research and...
I turn each track up to just under clipping then put a compressor on the master buss set at -28 threshold, 28:1 and everything will squash together and fall into place. :p
However, you should know that my mixes suck. :D:D:D
And if you're room doesn't have a nice natural reverb to begin with, then you're not going to get it in your mic...no matter where you put it in the room.
Well first off...congrats on reviving a super old thread.
Now on to business.
I used to own an ART Tube MP and honestly it did nothing for me and made no improvements in the sound. And you really should try to get away from using your computer's soundcard. If you're using cheap...
