I think it is an issue. I remember reading about it when I went to Europe a few months ago, and found some confirmation here.
I am definately not an electricity expert, but there might be some concern with 50Hz electricity.
Besides voltage, you need to convert the frequency of the alternating current. US power runs at 60 Hz, and most European power is at 50 Hz. Do not plug in anything electronic into the 50 Hz current, even if you step it down to 110 volts.
Although, theoretically, if you had an old analog phaser...
We are talking about taking a reasonable chance a $100-$200 instrument. In that price range, you can get a lot better bass on eBay than I've ever seen in a pawn shop. Maybe I haven't been to the right pawn shops, but the instruments I've seen in shops around here aren't even worth taking off...
I bought a very nice bass on eBay for a good price. Make use of the "Ask Seller a Question" link, and get to know the seller. I bought my bass from a guy who was building his own basses now and selling off his collection to finance that. He impressed me with his knowledge of guitars, and seemed...
If you are short on compressors, you could try putting all the drums on a subgroup and inserting the compressor on the subgroup.
There are some caveats with this method, though. With several channels running into a compressed subgroup, changing the level of an individual channel is adding...
A couple thoughts:
1) I wouldn't buy any computer made by HP.
2) If your school uses macs you might be able to get an "educational discount" by purchasing one through the school. In the past, Apple has made a lot of deals for students, teachers, and schools.
3) You can get a 7200 rpm firewire...
Same price at zzounds - Delta Omni for $219.
I have it and like it a lot. The Omni mixer is pretty handy, and the pres sound good. The soundcard sounds good as well. I bought mine used for $250 a few weeks before the price-drop. :(
Most people here will tell you to start with this. When you get ready to upgrade, they will recommend this. When you outgrow that, you will be looking at this or this.
I have a Mesa/Boogie DC-3, which is a 1x12 combo. I love it and it's freaking loud. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore. I don't know enough about their current product line to suggest a similar model. I really haven't paid attention to other amps since I got this one in the late 90s...
Windows Media player looks at the number of songs and the length of each song, computers some numbers, and then looks them up in a big internet database to figure out what CD it is.
