the profire 2626 is nice as well. I had the phonic helix but gave that to my brother. not a bad little unit and easy to work with.

nope, nothing wrong at all. i picked up 3 karma k-10s for less than 120.00 on the bay. the m-179 is a nice mic but like MS said "phantom power".

do the kicks sound the same when you use your dominant foot? do the kicks sound different when you use the other foot? same tension on the pedals? same type of drum head and padding if any? is one kick facing a wall and the other not? have you tried swapping the mics? are the same type of...

can't go wrong with an SM57. Use em.

or if you can't find the SM-57 cheap enough then try the GLS-57. good bang for the money.
