Gaz, I feel your pain. We sold our place in Colorado and moved back to Houston Texas (well the company we work for moved us). We have been in an apartment for a couple of months and I'm having withdrawals as well....LOL. House hunting can be such a pain!

Are you seeing 30-33ma on the 6v6? Some 6v6 tubes can handle up to 14watts like the JJ's so you can bump up the bias to 38ma. Have you tried swapping out tubes ( preamp and power tube)? Like Ranjam advised, try a .01uf to help tighten up the bottom.

I'm with guitaristic. A nice set of ear buds like the skull candies and a set of isolation phones (headphones/earmuffs). Cheap and works well.
