I was having the same problem too man. On my drums I would add Roomworks SE, compression, and EQ..and when Id play it back itd start skipping and popping and shit. That was on a 2.21gHz processor 1.5g ram. So I built a new comp from scratch 4g ram 2.4gHz quad, and am hoping its wont happen...

How many different drums do you want to record? You need more mic pres, a good starter if you want to record a whole set and all the toms is the firestudio. It has 8 pres built into it. Just a suggestion though:)

You could try putting it towards the edge of the same speaker your micing with the 57 to get a bassier tone.

I have a pair of Tascam VL-X5s, I believe they are discontinued? Anyway, everytime I turn them on I get a loub popping/cracking sound and same the when I turn them off. How do I stop this from happened? and Is will this ruin the moniter? Thanks all.

I was on a super tight budget and got a pair of F15s and was wondering the same thing...from those two recordings doc im thinkin I made the right choice for my starting OHs. I havent gotten to use them yet, but Id say for the quality and price, you should deffinatly pick up a pair.

I was looking at these as well, my friend uses them with his digirack002, his recordings sound good soooooo I guess they cant be too horid:p
