This is correct. If you were to get a pre-amp that had digital ADAT out on it, and run it into the 1814, you would essentially be using the 1814 as a firewire connection.
Also, I think that's hogwash what the guy said, he's probably just trying to move some TC Konnects. A step up in the pre is...
I'd like to start getting into doing more automation, like riding the fader on vocals and what not, but I tend not to use it because it makes it much more difficult to change the overall volume of the track if I find it to be sitting improperly in the mix. Also, before mastering, I like to make...
Thanks guys, I'm not really sure how I did it, but I got everything sounding pretty great actually. I put a dip in the EQs on both overheads of -4.5db at 240 and then also added a low shelf, and but then put +4 and +3 at 2450 and 10000 respectively. I guess this boosted the important frequencies...
I have this old mix that I'm trying to play around with, since I've learned quite a lot since the first time I mixed it. I went to go take a listen to the drums, and apparently I had no idea what I was doing because they sound awful. I still tried to work with that I have and started mixing...
I've always been a fan of the Boss BR series. I learned to record (for the most part) on a BR-1180CD, which had pretty decent sounding pre's and loads and loads of functionality, with a much more intuitive interface than the other studio-in-a-box units I've used. Only downside was it only had 2...
There are a bunch of free ones for Windows that do this (strictly MIDI), just do a google search for "free midi recorder" or "free midi program", most of them have the ability to display sheet music of the midi programming. It's weird that Garageband doesn't do it.
Glad this got bumped. I posted a thread about this about a week ago and the people who responsed seemed to have no idea you could even run osx on non-mac hardware!!
Technically, OSX's EULA violates anti-trust laws by bundling their hardware and software together, so hopefully pystar has a good...
Ok, I thought I had posted this already, but I couldn't find it when I went back to check on replies.
We've all seen the million and one threads in this forums asking "which mic is better" or "which mic should I use for this". While we have a large group of contributors to attest to a mic's...
Also a happy firepod owner, but that IO|26 looks pretty nice! Can anyone compare the pre's and conversion? I'm sure they're both garbage in comparison to the big picture, but I'd also imagine one sounds better than the other.
Haha, when I owned a car, i used to find myself driving while leaning to the right to get a proper spacial representation of the mix. It probably wasn't too safe, but I heard a lot of good ideas/techniques that way!
I can't afford to buy a used one right now. I'm running it fine on my macbook, this was just more of an experimentation thing and I posted to see if anyone else had done it. Maybe I'll be the pioneer!! Also, I have a spare PC to do it with, I just need to upgrade the mobo and processor, which is...
Actually, you were right when you said CPU instructions, while x86 is the instruction set, it has to have SSE3 extension to the instruction set in order to run OSx well (and SSE2 to run it at all).
I think the liscensing for OSX says to only run it on their hardware, but a) that violates...
Yeah, I actually have that bookmarked already :)
I'm just curious if anyone else had built a hackintosh and is using it for recording or knows a good reason why it won't work very well.
