Moving Blankets as temporary bass traps

Werd. Frank is good people and really knows his stuff. I can remember several times when he has recommended rolls of insulation in the corners as a cheap way to provide some bass trapping.

Metal song, needs some mixing advice!

Shit. I thought I recognized your mug in the pic of your vocal booth. I can't place where I know you from for the life of me though. Where at in Ohio?

    Screamed vocals

I think that's it, running out of air. Halford and Dickenson are a totally different thing. They actually scream in tune, pretty close to singing. And they hit some massive high notes. No way you could hit those high notes bent over. A lot of it is probably just posing too, like the low slung...

    Screamed vocals

Bending down can help you push the air out a little harder and I think guys that do that are also really flexing their stomach muscles which kinda naturally bends you over. You gotta stand up to get a full breath though. Personally I have the best luck standing up with my head tilted back...

    Screamed vocals

Screaming, just let it rip. If you hold back you're gonna hurt yourself. Stay nice and loose and get your voice to breakup by pushing more air through not by tightening your throat. All the things that apply to regular singing apply to screaming as well. Stay hydrated, well rested, well fed and...

Need tips for home studio gear for $5,000

Yeah I'm not debating the value. I have no problem with logic, great program. I'm just not sure how much use a guy doing vocals, acoustic guitar and honkey tonk piano is gonna get out of the synths and sampler. $500 for logic or $60 for reaper which will do everything he needs and then some. No...

Need tips for home studio gear for $5,000

Isn't logic pro like $500? I'm not even sure how much a macbook costs. 1k ish? My point is that's an awful large percentage of your total budget being spent on something that is going to have absolutely no impact on the quality of recording whatsoever.

Need tips for home studio gear for $5,000

I always cringe when I see someone's gear recommendations for starting out and it includes a Mac and expensive recording software. Not only a Mac but a laptop. Unless there is some need for portability a laptop is totally unnecessary. I'm not a Mac hater but when you're trying to stretch your...

Need help in selecting a microphone for customized baby monitor project

We have a baby monitor and it reaches everywhere in the house and even outside. I think it was $40. The only thing I want is one with a headphone out so I can plug it into my mixer so I can hear if she wakes up when I'm jamming on the keyboard with headphones on.

doubling/hard panning a mono ac. guitar

No way! I graduated from Stow in 94. You still in the area? Cool a clip would help a lot. What's you current setup? What gear do you have available? I can relate to the limited budget for sure.:(

doubling/hard panning a mono ac. guitar

I've got no problems with copying tracks and sliding them around for an effect. Although I personally use a chorus or delay plug for that type of stuff. The OP said he tried the track duplication and doesn't like the sound. He also said that he can't double track the guitars. Next best thing...

doubling/hard panning a mono ac. guitar

I think you can get a pretty nice stereo spread with two mics on an acoustic. Mic position gives you a subtle difference between the two. Use two different types of mics for even more variation. I disagree that using two mics just gives you the same thing twice. Especially on acoustic guitar.

    703 acoustical properties

They won't look lumpy you can push em tight against the burlap. They actually turned out a little less lumpy than the ones I made with the rockboard 60 because they were more flexible and easier to push tight into the corners. I'll try and remember to get some pics of mine for ya when I'm at the...
