Help me pick a budget bass amp

No noticeable hiss even with the thing cranked. The first cab he got did have a loose horn switch that rattled pretty bad but GC replaced right away.

    What wouldst YOU get?

Go with some rigid fiberglass wrapped in burlap for treatment. You can just set them on top of a box in the corner so you don't even need to attach them to the walls. Or if you are inclined you could make free standing frames. There are plenty of ways to get some basic treatment up without...

    What wouldst YOU get?

Any reason you're set on pro tools? Their budget stuff can be pretty limiting. I'm pretty sure there are limits on which interfaces you can use and how many tracks per session. Personally if I was in your position I'd go with reaper and a line 6 UX2. The UX2 would really come in handy for...

Help me pick a budget bass amp

My bro just bought a new bass and bass amp to use exactly like you want. He plays in a metal band and they play in drop C he's also after a similar tone. He got the Acoustic 200 watt head with the 15 cab. It's loud enough too keep up with a couple of guitars and live drums during rehearsal. Nice...

    Bass Buzz

Fairly normal for electric guitars and basses. I've heard dimmer switches can be a problem. I'm not sure what to do about it. I don't think better shielding would help. Maybe a power conditioner? I'm sure someone smarter than myself will be along shortly to set you straight.:D

Florescent lights? Yeah that's pretty common. I don't know what helps though. When we had that problem in our old jam room we turned off the florescents and bought some cheap lamps.:D:eek:

    Mogami Mic Cables

I bought some mogami silver 25ft cables. One of them failed just recently but they have a lifetime gaurentee. I'll get it replaced soon. I like them but I doubt I'd ever spend that much on cables again. I actually like the ones I made myself better. If I was going to buy pre-made cables I'd...

Two computers...dumb suggestion or the king of ideas?

Reaper is pretty light on the CPU usage. You could just mix on reaper. I'm also pretty sure that reaper has a feature that lets you use processing power from another PC on your network. Lose Cubase and their overpriced software and ridiculous dongles. Try reaper and you may never open Cubase...

    Which Amp

Save up the cash and keep an eye on craigslist. I saw a Fender bassman 50 with a 2x12 cab for $450 on my local cragislist the other day. (damn my empty bank account!). If I was in the market for an amp I'd be watching craigslist until I found a gem.

    Which Amp

Because he realized that the OP had edited his post in response to Drew's question. For some reason the posts don't show when the have been edited now. I did a double take myself because at first glance it looked like Drew was being a dick which is definitely not typical. This is an edit...

best place to listen to a mix, after it leaves the studio.

I think the point of listening on different systems is to learn your room and monitoring chain. Once I got my boxy little room at home set up with decent acoustic treatment it still wasn't perfect. If I put enough treatment in the room to make it right I wouldn't be able to get in the door! So I...

    About Click Tracks

Most software it's as easy as a right click and insert tempo change. Check out reaper for recording software. It's cheap and flexible. A lot of people (including me) around here swear by it.
