because they are buying in quantities it's often cheaper for the manufacturer to use one that jumpers to both voltages than to spec 2 different trannies... so dont be surprised if thats what ya find... the question then becomes would you be able to discern or know a tech to take care of it for...

a mixer with the interface would obviate the need for a stand alone interface... if you go the usb route one thing to make sure of is whether the tracks are sent induvidually or not... ie.some will only send a 2 trk mix of whatever you are sending??? make sense?? if not read abit more first...

what exactly are you useing it for???

the only thing i use solid wire on is internal jumper wiring in repairing... though some folks swear by useing video coax for interconnects... as to guage the only real issue afaik is in power to speaker where bigger is better though that;s somewhat dependent on length too... longer becomes more...

do not confuse audio compression and data compression... yep dont do it...

not the best idea you've had but nothing dangerous about it... the transformer is a step up transformer impedence wise... so the signal it passes will be lower so ya may need to kick up the gain... ultimately?? bite the bullet and get the right cable...

well under normal cirumstances a humming amp requires power supply filters... this is by no means normal circumstance but still a good place to start... what kinda background do you have in electronics if at all??? do you know a good tech??? you may need a complete rebuild of the supply... but...

i've seen that connector used on small signal connections but not power supply type stuff... just pull up digi-key and check what they've got... get a pair that connects both for cable ends... wire one with a pigtail going into the mixer and well the rest is obvious...

it's a pretty good time to buy hard drives... the prices are way down... new egg has terabites for under $100... when you get this... move your music files to the new and keep going... the prog should stay on the system disc... speed should be 7200 rpm... and a bigger buffer is recommended (mine...
