    Getting started

RTFM means read the fucking manual. I have Acid but do not have a Behringer USB audio interface or an external mixer so I can't talk you through the rest of the setup procedure. It's in the manual, though you may need to do some reading to find it. .

    A little insight please......

You are getting a classic and very capable midi sequencer when you buy the MPC2500. If you've used an MPC in any form in the past the midi sequencer is basically the same, as is the sampling engine --- there's just more of it. If you've narrowed your search down to those 3 that you have listed...

    Midi Setup

Your best and cheapest option is to download Reaper - LINK - and rewire it with PT. It has much better midi editing than PT has and once you get used to having it rewired it will be like just another editing screen. You have 30 days to work with Reaper and after that they ask for a $40 shareware...

    Getting started

Tauguy is away from his desk right now, but I'll be glad to help. First, plug the Behringer USB audio interface into one of your computers USB ports. Then plug your mixers left and right outputs into the left and right inputs of the audio interface. You may need RCA to 1/4" cables or adapters...

    buying dilemma

Maybe 11 packs of guitar strings? Or a gross or two of picks? Or a years subscription to Sound on Sound? Or a Chicago parking ticket? Or a one-fifth share of a Cubs playoff bleacher ticket? .

    New to recording...and i'm a metalhead.

No. Go all the way, break open the piggy bank and fork out for an SM57. It'll be a good investment both in the short run and the long run. If you decide that you're not interested in music anymore an SM57 will be worth most of what you paid for it on the used market --- not so a pg48. .

    equipment priority?

The Firepod preamps are more than good enough for what you're doing. They would actually be among the strongest links in your recording chain. They're full and clear and sound very nice even when driven hard. .

    Getting started....need help!

I recommend you buy the AW1600 and be done with the shopping process. With careful use you will find it a first class machine capable of truly professional results. This guy thinks so too --- LINK And watch out for an avalanche of opinions on your question #5 --- the one about the...

    First post, first question

Short answer - yes. Longer answer --- you're going to need to mix the band to stereo on the fly, meaning as you are playing the songs. That interface only has 2 inputs, but that's enough to take the left and right stereo mix out of the Behringer mixing board. Plan on making adjustments, and...

    Drum machines!!

It uses the midi in on the back of your Lexicon Omega. One midi cable is all you need to connect it, from the midi out of the DD55 to the midi in of the Omega. It should be plug and play --- most midi controllers are --- but there may be some editing software with it too. .

Please help - Firestudio Project question/ advice

Freudian Slip's advice is good. But the other side of the coin is that if you just want to lay down drums and guitar with a minimum of fuss a standalone hard disk recorder can be just the ticket. I say that because if you just want to treat a hard disk recorder like a regular, linear...

    Just trying to get started

Until Macintosh came out with Macs w/Intel processors earlier this year, FL was a PC-only program, meaning no Macintosh version was available. Since the Intel processors are the ones used in PC's, FL has come out with a version of FL that will run on a Mac provided it's an Intel-equipped Mac...

Compact Flash is a type of memory card best known for use with digital cameras. All you need to make it Mac compatible is a Compact Flash card reader and then you're in the SP404 business. It should be a drag and drop thing to load samples to and from the CF card on your Mac --- you wouldn't...

    Just trying to get started

For a start, FL7 is PC only or Intel Mac running Bootcamp, a program that will run PC only software on an Intel-equipped Mac. Cubase is crossplatform meaning it runs on both PC and Mac as is ProTools to a point. The upshot of this is if you want to stay with what you know best --- FL --- you...
