proposed home rec set up for u to crap on

Yeah. But I think there's been some electronic slight-of-hand going on with this post. This was first posted under the name 'Yourmammasass' --- a newbie without any rep --- now all his posts are under the name 'Toker'. ????

Getting started with recording, Almost done with the setup

The mixer will go on the playback side of your setup to let you monitor your tracks and give you a buffer from your soundcard to connect your monitors. Connect as many outputs as you think you will need from your soundcard to the mixer, then use the L+R microphone cable outputs on the back for...

    Getting started

You need the USB device connected for both recording AND playback. Figure out how to hook the USB device up to your VM3100 mixer and use that for all you monitoring needs. Your laptop speakers are now useless. .

    Questions about hard disk recorders

They will work 'just fine'. But they'll give you a false idea of your mixes and the way they translate to other playback systems. Once you get beyond just hearing 'what (you) recorded' and take your mixes to the next level that's when you'll need to invest in some real monitors, not just Klipsch...

    Questions about hard disk recorders

And you did a cut and paste with this same question into the Tascam forum which is called 'crossposting'. Do not do this as it pisses off the Dragon. .

    Questions about hard disk recorders

Yes. That's the way to do it. Yes. All of the Tascam DP series are equipped with USB ports for just such a purpose. .

    latency/delay issues

With a fast computer and a modern audio/midi sequencer there should be only a minimal delay between the new track and already recorded track. The key is to make sure you're using ASIO drivers. If your Omega didn't come with an install CD, google the Lexicon web site and find the most current...

    What about the Korg D3200?

Okay, here are some specifics on the Yamaha AW1600. This guy says more or less everything I would say if I had said it --- LINK. But I predict that the special hold the Korg D3200 has over you will be too strong for any rational argument to persuade you not to buy it. .

    Edirol FA-66 issues

You can connect a microphone to a line level input with whatever adapter you like but without a preamp in the chain you will not be able to hear anything. This --- LINK --- would be the minimum you will need to do what you're trying to accomplish. .

Getting started with recording, Almost done with the setup

If the microphones are interfering with each others phase there's no way to correct it at the recorder. You need to move the microphones to correct the phase issue --- it has nothing to do with hard panning the input channels. .

Getting started with recording, Almost done with the setup

It's not a good idea to plug your monitors straight into your interface. Either of the two mixers has cannon outs and will serve both to monitor your tracks and as a convenient place to hook your monitors up with microphone cords. As far as the balanced/unbalanced thing, my solution to that has...

Yes. You are on the right track. Try Reaper --- LINK. It's professional software at a shareware price. You have 30 days to decide if you like it and then they ask for a $40 shareware fee. As far as the problems you are having installing your Delta 1010lt, go here --- LINK --- and download...

Can I Use Tascam US-428 With US-224 Together?

Do you own both or is your decision to buy them going to be based on what I say? If it's the first one, try it and see. Plug each into it's own USB port and see if they work as a team. If it's the second one, do your own research. You have the same access to google as I do... Or discard the...

    Midi Setup

First, for either keyboard you're currently considering find the 'local on/off' command and set it to 'off'. I know I've mentioned this before but it's important. Then plug the keyboard midi out into the digi 002 midi in and the digi 002 midi out to the keyboard midi in. Both of the keyboards...

    What about the Korg D3200?

Here's a cut and paste of the January 2006 Sound on Sound (UK) review. For the sake of brevity I've only included the first two and the last four paragraphs, but they give a good sense of the review. ___________________________________________ "Although the prodigious 32-track playback of...

    Midi Setup

You can use any midi equipped keyboard as a controller. The only thing you need to remember is when you're using a keyboard like the Juno D that has sounds in it that you want to have access to is to set the 'local on/off' to 'off'. That will break the connection between the keyboard and the...
