Hi,
I have a little home studio with a few condensers/dynamics etc etc running into a yamaha mg10/2 mixer which I use simply as a glorified preamp. I then run the -10 outs from the mixer into a live card (running kx for asio) with good results.
My only comlpaint with this system is that my PC...
I don't really understand what you're saying. You may want to reword your question.
To use an effector plugin you click on the channel properties and select a mixer channel in the top right hand corner.
Now go to the mixer and select the channel in the mixer that you just chose for your...
Yeah, thats right.
If you look up the top of the fruity screen you will see the 'Recording Panel'. The recording panel has metronome/midi settings on it aswell as a setting called 'Snap' that defaults to Line or (none).
If you click on Line/None then you can change the snap settings. For...
Well technically you cannot tune a drum to a note. Very few drums can do this - Tympanis etc.
The idea of trying to tune to the fundamental frequency of the shell is not a bad idea really. You should be able to get it close - and if you can its gonna be alot louder.
Drum tuning is probably the...
The trick to speed as someone mentioned before is through accuracy. Practising your rudiments is an absolutely excellent idea. If your just going for straight rolls I would suggest practising single and double strokes. Don't worry about your accents.
If you want an excercise to increase speed...
Kevin, I think you will find that a drumkit sounds alot better when its not thrashed. Cymbals choke themselves when played too loudly and with poor technique. Often these two things go hand in hand.
If you ever watch a good studio player they won't thrash the kit at all but tend to look very...
You git - that wasn't Barker that was Josh Freese. Barker cancelled my local show because he hurt his leg.
Travis isn't a terrible drummer but he is definitely not creative or super technically talented. Set your sights higher guys!
If your looking for idols look towards Lang, Smith, Gadd...
The architecture of laptops hasn't ever been a problem. The problem is people tend to skimp on laptops - getting slow hard drives and little ram.
The main problem with laptops however is that audio input options are severely limited - I don't personally trust external devices.
It doesn't matter which route you go (AMD64 or P4) because they will give probably similar performance. The videocard doesn't matter - go for the cheapest one possible. I'd recommend a 9200SE or Geforce 4 MX or something similarly low in spec. You don't need any 3D power for sound.
IDE and SATA...
How does that work Bulls? Could you explain a bit to me about bussing etc (what it is and that).
Cheers. :)
I have an MG 10/2 and its quite a decent little mixer - I love it to bits and the preamps are quite quiet - although I don't have anything besides guitar amps to compare it to.
Read the manual.
You'll have to have some kind of idea about musical theory.
The basic template in fruit loops just has one 'box' for each 16th note in a 4/4 bar.
Each channel is a different instrument - and you just click a box where you want the notes - its really quite straightforward...
I would suspect poor programming. As you said - you started with a digitally silenced track - and when that was EQ'ed you got hiss - which means thats its not anything to do with the EQ boosting a noisey frequency - the EQ is just noisey itself.
